I found out that the cleaning was used by the military in the trainings. http://www.articlepool.info/webzine/article.php?id=171589 this article gave me some ideas on how the cleaning discipline can be helpful and i think it is used to boost the spirit. Is that true!

Awesome, best 2 hrs of story telling I've heard in a long time. THanks for helping me pass the time here cleaning up after the hurricane. Just got the power back on after 10 days and I'm glad I had this to listen to while I cleaned the wood and water outta the carpets.

And Amen, Dale hits it head on about the pussification of America. Young men need positive male role models that are more manly than what the msm tries to push on us. They neuter the testosterone out of society at a young age, and not in a positive way. Kids fight and make fun of each other. The problems start when the ppl being bullied can't defend themselves thru physical means, so the taunts and naem calling get worse. If they were allowed to fight fire with fire, the situation would defuse and everfyone would learn a good lesson.

Best part: advice to the young studs. Use the Army (or other service). It's damn sure going to use you.

You will wind up missing it. Even the parts that suck.

BTW, plenty of ex-officers wind up pumping gas and taking life advice from ex-enlisted. I did.

Anyway, when you're old and falling apart, the only qualification you need is having been there. We're not officers or enlisted -just old men. Mostly yapping about health matters these days.

Outstanding work on Comstock's part and yours.

Thank you.

Lol, how true referencing us old, falling apart Grunts!   I know several retired Marines, I give them a lot of shit because none of them were combat Grunts!  Love their Esprit!  I put an Army sticker on my truck because Every Marine has his vehicle decorated with more Corps crap.

Comstock Rocks....great work!....6

Man!  I gotta tell you, I had the utmost respect for Dale before I listened to either one of these interviews. (It took me two days to listen to the second one, on and off, as work has been busy)  One thing about the SOF community that I'm noticing is that they all seem like regular guys.  I don't mean that with any disrespect, because I know they are anything but "regular"  They all just seem approachable, and down to earth, are smart and have killer work ethics. (literally! ha!) I got the same vibe when I tuned into  Stars Earn Stripes as well.  Dale has a super attitude..."One team, One fight"  and you can tell he brings it to whatever he does.  Sad to hear he had such a bad experience when he first got out of the military.  Not all of us civilians are like that, sadly some or even most are I guess?  Thanks Guys, for you military service and your hard work making this site what it is.

@usapatriotonthemove Whether you are an elite SF veteran or just a plain vanilla serviceman that adjustment to civilian life is traumatic, some don't survive it.  DoD has gotten better at helping the guys prepare for End of Service, but it is a huge shock no matter what.  It's a major issue, and one of the reasons the American legion and VFW are so beloved by veterans.  Support comes from folks that have been through the same wringer!

usapatriotonthemove
usapatriotonthemove 5pts

@Old PH2  I do computer support for a pretty well known University on the East Coast.  I've been trying to volunteer at a local organization that helps those, like you've described above, with training and guidance through that process, helping with everything from feeding them to temporary housing to computer training. (which is what I thought I could help with?)  Sadly, I think the volunteer coordinators are volunteers as well, so I just keep falling through the cracks?  You've definitely inspired me to give it another try. I'll let you know how it goes.

@fistsofgod For this interview @JackMurphyRGR was in NY.  Dale was in South Eastern US.  and @Chairborne Commandos Radio aka the "studio" was in SEATTLE.  Recording in this type of environment is very, very different than everyone sitting down in a studio together in the same room.

If you know how to bridge these gaps and solve the problem contact me direct.

@mrfrosty congrats Jack and Quin for a fantastic listen. I have nothing but respect for Dale. However I am with Mr Frosty on this one. The alt. med talk was a buzzkill. It's probably cuz I'm a PA, but it is pseudoscience. I agree 100% that people need major lifestyle changes and get off their meds. Although modern medicine isn't perfect, it is the best we have right now.

@mrfrosty I don't use 'alternative medicines, but just want to point out that most conventional medicines originated from or continue to come from natural ingredients.  I think it's really a case of being informed on any medicine or drug one puts in their body.  Some conventional medicines have proven to be very dangerous.  An example is hormone replacement for women, which later was discovered to be a major cause of breast cancer.  Some drugs given to pregnant woman caused major birth defects in their children.  I think we are a 'pill happy' society lol

A 3 kilometer ambush?....At 5 mph?...........Ohhh the fun of a early morning drive through the countryside..........with tracers everywhere.......good times.  During a situation like that I think petrified dog shit moves faster. :)

If anyone should write a book on the "Art of Manliness," it should be Dale.  Great interview gentlemen and I do agree with Dale that our country is producing too many sedentary and detached children in our society who are lacking some testicular fortitude these days.  Loved the Rambo comment as well.  I'd like to thank you guys again, Jack, Quin, the SOFREP staff and Dale as well for the 2-part interview.  Stay frosty my friends. :)

    • In the IDF, 'Lonely Soldier' is a term that describes soldiers serving on active duty who have no family is Israel. These are volunteers that came to serve for 3-5 years. They typically go back to their respective countries upon completion. Most commonly, these are people who immigrated to Israel by themselves. I was one of them. While in Israel, I lived in an apartment building where the majority of people were lonely soldiers. It was located on the outer ring of Jerusalem, surrounded by four Arab villages. My roommates were two recon guys (like me) and one who worked in field intel. All of the other inhabitants were soldiers from various units, with most of them serving a combat role. It was a well known thing, especially to the Arabs in the village. Most of the time we wouldn't be there, but when we were on leave, we would come to the apartment for a little R&R. It was rare that the four of us were there at the same time, but once in a blue moon, it did happen. Each village had, as is customary, its own mosque. When the time for prayer came, the loudspeakers would call out to the faithful. It was OK, we were used to it. However, over the weekend they would make it a point to play the call to prayer very, and I mean VERY, loud. They knew soldiers would be in the building trying to get some sleep - recovering from several weeks in the field. This always annoyed me but there was nothing I could do. On this particular weekend, after an intense seven weeks of non-stop ops, all I wanted was to go to the apartment, sleep, eat, sleep some more and then sleep again. That weekend the four of us were at the apartment and we were all equally tired. We arrived Thursday night and after a small dinner and some beers, we went to sleep. At 0400 we all jumped.... The freaking loudspeakers at all four mosques began their call to prayer at full blast. Fuck.... We spent the remainder of the day trying to rest and every time we would fall asleep, again... The call for prayers, full blast! Over lunch, we all looked at each other and knew this had to stop. We came up with a plan. I know it wasn't nice, but at that point we couldn't care less about political correctness. Here's what we did. After some recon that night, we noticed that the call to prayer wasn't performed by an Imam or some other person with a microphone. It was a tape recorder that used a tape. We figured the four of us, experts in stealthy infils, could sneak in and steal those tapes. However, while we were planning the different infil routes for each village, we all smiled and did something better. We recorded Metallica's 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' on repeat on all four tapes and then waited till midnight. At midnight, each one of us - armed with a Metallica tape - headed to a different village. All dressed in black, we were careful not to be seen. We entered into the buildings and exchanged the tapes. We rallied back to the exfil point, a crossroad not far from the last village and headed back to our apartment. And then we waited... At 0350 we went to the roof with some coffee, opened some field chairs and waited for the show to begin. At 0400 sharp the first "call" came alive, full volume: Make his fight On the hill in the early day Constant chill deep inside ... Take a look To the sky Just before you die It's the last time he will Followed by the next, then the 3rd and 4th joined in. Full volume Metallica! Soon after, we heard sirens headed to the villages. I don't know what happened after that, but we had our own private concert, right there. No kidding, there I was... Metallica call to prayer
