This made my morning - understanding I am several days late to the party!  Thanks guys - and you gals out there who participated as well!

And the post work out recovery for sexist and mysogynistic assholes who denigrate women for shits and giggles?: huddle on couch with snuggle blanket while calling women who are much more accomplished than they are either a slut or a fat pig to make themselves feel better about their own short comings, all the while hoping that their minuscule penis will grow to something bigger than the size of a thimble, and their brain will cease to be the size of a pea. Good look with those "preformed" micro airsquats. As always, spell check is your friend.

@ariarisacci I'm still kind of baffled by the fact that she, assuming it is a she due to the post, can comment on someones typographical error, while she is using terrible punctuation, and grammar.  I also see an error in the last sentence, "Good look" were you trying for luck?  At least make your paragraph perfect if you are going to point out someone else's mistakes.  Sorry if this is flaming, I just don't understand.

@Hunter N

I was trying to copy the style of the original post, hence my lackadaisical use of grammar, sentence structure, etc. I apologize if that was lost in translation. I was pretty frustrated and beyond irritated when I wrote the post last night.

And I did mean to use the phrase "good look". I know of few better things to look at then someone preforming micro air-squats while bounching their rear off the ground. I was being ironical.

And for the record, I'm not team Paula, nor team Dave. I do find it curious that it's always Paula, and never Lieutenant Colonel Broadwell, which is her official rank. Again, another not so subtle put down.  I think they both screwed up royally,  but I don't see posts on this site about forgiving Paula. I do see posts from the original poster regarding her potential S and M gear, and her sex video tapes. The mind boggles.

I also see posts encouraging us to forgive Petraeus, while calling Paula Broadwell a whore, a slut, a frog hog, a military power groupie, a strap hanger, and accusing her of having a less than stellar career, etc. I mean, really?  A woman who graduated from West Point at the top of her class, has a master's degree in International Security from the University of Denver, a master's of Public Administration from Harvard, is currently pursing her PhD at King's College London, was a member of the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force in Denver, wrote a NY Times best selling book, and had top secret clearance is someone you would characterize as having a less than stellar career?  Jesus, we should all be so lucky.

I started reading this site because my partner is in the military and introduced me to it. I applaud how the site is trying admirably to be apolitical, which is no easy feat in this political climate. But I have been appalled at some of the sexist and shitty comments made lately regarding women, and this issue. ie: "The crazier they are, the better they bang it out. Everyone knows it's true. That's why hookers make so much sense. That the general should have made a few trips to South East Asia to bang it out of his system." I mean, WTF??????

Grow up guys, and put your big girl panties on. Stop being sexist douche bags, and have a little compassion for someone who had an affair, and will pay the price for the rest of her life. How about for a change we assume that they are both decent, ambitious, hard working people who became infatuated with each other, and made a huge mistake that they are now living with?

Like many other powerful men who have gotten caught with their pants down, Petraeus will have his second act, the same as Bill Clinton, and Newt Gingrich. I doubt she will be so lucky.

@JackMurphyRGR @SEAN SPOONTS @ariarisacci @SEAN @Hunter Don't let femo-facists like ariarisacci define the issue. Gotta remember Murph that in sisterhood-speak gals like Broadwell are empowered, accomplished women of equal stature to men,....until they screw things up. Any criticism directed at them transmogrifies into a bunch of male bullies picking on a girl. Same thing with Susan Rice, who was apparently accomplished and competent enough to mislead the public on all the Sunday talk shows, then when it all fell apart criticism of her was reduced to male bullies just picking on a girl again.

@SEAN SPOONTS  @JackMurphyRGR  @ariarisacci  @SEAN  @Hunter The thing is, LTC Broadwell presents herself as "Paula", not as a military officer.  Look at all her PR photos, including that staged deal out at the firing range.  She fronts her sexuality to the public and presents herself more like one of those Kardashian girls than a military officer.  I have yet to see her in uniform, anywhere.  Uncle Dave is a different story.  I got some more on him but that will have to wait for another time.

The South East Asia comments were in another Paula Broadwell thread, again written by the original poster of this thread. I could be wrong, but sounds like someone has some issues to work out in therapy.

And for the record, to try and avoid coming off as a complete troglodyte, best to avoid ever telling a woman that they need a dose of reality regarding sexual assault, or that lesbians who look like Michael Moore don't have to worry about rape, (I guess the pretty ones should worry, though? Better buy that taser gun, while you still can, Portia di Rossi and Amber Heard).

My favourite part of your post was your assertion that girls should do everything to avoid their own sexual assault by not being drunk off their ass at 3am...because basically then they are asking for it.  Because like poor, weak General Patraeus who couldn't control himself around that slutty, butch strap hanger Paula, men will be too weak to stop themselves from raping. And who came blame them? Poor fellows.

Here are Ten rape prevention tips that men should try and follow. Pretty basic, but it sounds like you might want to keep them handy in case you are in that gray area where you are not sure if a girl is drunk off her skull and asking for it, or if she really doesn't want to be raped.

1. Don’t put drugs in women’s drinks.

2. When you see a woman walking by herself, leave her alone.

3. If you pull over to help a woman whose car has broken down, remember not to rape her.

4. If you are in an elevator and a woman gets in, don’t rape her.

5. When you encounter a woman who is asleep, the safest course of action is to not rape her.

6. Never creep into a woman’s home through an unlocked door or window, or spring out at her from between parked cars, or rape her.

7. Remember, people go to the laundry room to do their laundry. Do not attempt to molest someone who is alone in a laundry room.

8. Use the Buddy System! If it is inconvenient for you to stop yourself from raping women, ask a trusted friend to accompany you at all times.

9. Carry a rape whistle. If you find that you are about to rape someone, blow the whistle until someone comes to stop you.

10. Don’t forget: Honesty is the best policy. When asking a woman out on a date, don’t pretend that you are interested in her as a person; tell her straight up that you expect to be raping her later. If you don’t communicate your intentions, the woman may take it as a sign that you do not plan to rape her.

I'm posting some rape statistics at the bottom of my this post that I have just copied and pasted, without cherry picking things to suit my purpose. I have also included the sources at the bottom.

And don't worry, I won't be posting again, so feel free to slag me off at every available opportunity. I'm sure you're exhausted from the post you just wrote, which must have kept you up all night as you tried to find stats that suited your narrow mind set.

Between 20% and 25% of women will experience a completed and/or attempted rape during their college career(1)

More than half of raped college women tell no one of their victimization (1)

80% of sexual assault and rape victims are under the age of 30 (1

44% of sexual assault and rape victims are under the age of 18 (1

)Persons with a disability had an age-adjusted rate of rape or sexual assault that was more than twice the rate for persons without a disability (1)

 @ariarisacci  @JackMurphyRGR  @SEAN  @Hunter

You're pretty good.  So far you've just about run thru the entire catalogue of anti-male shaming tactics without missing a beat.  We'll take it one at a time.

1)  I don't own anything anyone else said here or elsewhere just because I happen to be male.  Damning us all as you do is an example of sexist stereotyping.  I didn't make any remarks about "banging it out" with Asian hookers. I can't even find it on this tread.  If you have a problem with a particular person a take it up with them personally instead of dumping on all of us as if we are violent rapists.

2) While I don't agree that words are the same as physical violence, it appears that you do.  Aren't your own sexist remarks directed towards all men(and not just the offenders in questions) just as violent and dehumanizing?  Or are we up against that feminist double standard again?  Where gross gender stereotypes are O.K if you do it?  The Journal of Interpersonal Violence reported that significantly more girls than boys reported perpetrating violence. In terms of victimization, more boys than girls reported abuse.  More men than women were victims of intimate partner physical violence within the past 2 years, according to the Centers for Disease Control and U.S. Department of Justice. The National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey released in December, 2011, that within the last 12 months an estimated 5,365,000 men and 4,741,000 women were victims of intimate partner physical violence.

3) As for sexual assault against women, you need a dose of reality.  The girls who look like out of work lesbian truck drivers(think Michael Moore) generally don't project sexual availability to males and don't put themselves in the position of being around sexually aggressive males in the first place.  The picture you paint is of men crawling thru bedroom windows and raping virgins.  If girls don't want to be hit on by men, try to avoid being in the basement of a frat party at 3 AM drunk off your ass. Just sayin'.    Women, lacking the physical strength of males frequently use sex(and sex appeal) to attain power and advantage over men.(which is the general criticism against Broadwell), but then roll over and play the victim when it blows up in their faces or when they experience an unwanted sexual advance.  The whole Broadwell thing blew up because Broadwell thought the overt use of sex appeal by Jill Kelly was a challenge to her own influence over Petraeus.  Finally the FBI reports that 20% of rape accusations are found to be false.  This 20% has run pretty consistently thru the years in which it has been studied.  Researchers like Eugene Kanin at Purdue University have even found that on some college campuses 50% of the rape accusations have been found to be falsely made.  In a midwestern city where 109 accusations of rape were studied between 1978 and 1987, 45 of those cases were classified by the police as "false accusations."   So, 1 in 5 women are the victims of sexual assault and as many as half the accusations are falsely made.  Men are victimized by women too.

4) As for the statistics about men being exposed to violence like women are, the stats are actually much worse for men in many ways beyond violence.  In this country women live, on average, seven years longer than men. women control 86 % of all personal wealth [PARADE Magazine, May 27, 1990], women make up 55% of current college graduates. Women cast 54% of the votes in Presidential elections,(yet claim to be left out of the political decision-making process!) They tend to be the default winner in child custody disputes. Women suffer only 6% of the work-related fatalities (the other 94% are suffered by men). Women are the victim of only about 35% of violent crimes, and only about 25% of all murders, yet because of our society's exaggerated concern and respect for them, special legislation has been passed to punish "violence against women" as if it were a more heinous crime than "violence against men".  Feminists claims to want "equality", are a myth. What "equality" means to them is preferential treatment.  Two out of every three dollars spent on health care is spent on women, and even if you don't count pregnancy-related care, women still receive more medical care than men, yet we are told that womens health is being "neglected."  Of the 25 worst jobs, as ranked by the Jobs Related Almanac based on a combination of salary, stress, security, and physical demands, 24 of them are predominantly, if not almost entirely, male, which might explain why men commit over 80% of all suicides.  In spite of all this self deluding women like you live in this perpetual state of victimhood, oppression and aggrievement.

@JackMurphyRGR @SEAN SPOONTS @ariarisacci @Hunter My point was not to defend Paula Broadwell. It was to point out how disturbed I was by the brutal sexist comments regarding this situation in far too many posts. It's become a pattern on this site, and not only reserved for Paula Broadwell. Sexist comments are a form of violence against women. It's not humour. It's linguistic violence which studies have shown can lead to physical violence. It's not funny, it's harmful. And it's not equivalent to fart jokes. My dad was in the diplomatic corps, and I have lived all over the world. I have lived in South East Asia. So when you guys go on about banging it out over there, I hope you know that it's most likely with a child under the age of 12 who has been forced into prostitution and slavery. Thailand alone is estimated to have 200,000 child prostitutes currently helping guys "bang it out." So no, I don't find it funny. I find it repulsive and shameful. I think it speaks to your own characters. Own that. One in five women currently attending university will be sexually assaulted. One in five. Do you think the same statistics are true of men? For those of you with sisters, wives, mothers and daughters, how would you feel if someone spoke about them, the way people have spoken about Paula Broadwell. It's nauseating. Studies have shown that sexist speech leads to violence against women, because it is meant to be degrading and humiliating, and most of all dehumanising. Perhaps you guys should try reading the Istanbul Convention, and educate yourselves a bit more about violence towards women, in all its various forms, and how serious minded people are working to stop it. Or you could go back to your semen jokes.

@ariarisacci @Hunter N Seriously, we don't need you scolding and lecturing us on the niceties of gender relations. Especially when you hurtle the same kind of sexist insults you accuse others of using. We aren't as concerned about how small our dicks are as we about how big your ass is getting. And you might as well the abandon the phony pretense about being not being on any side in this issue. Anyone who reads your two posts can see you're a cheerleader for the sisterhood and Broadwell. People around here don't mind declared biases but we have little patience with phonies who feign objectivity just to be a pain in the ass. That means you. Sorry you don't see the humor in the post but their are some inequalities between men and women that haven't been breached yet and a the differences between male humor and female humor haven't been leveled yet. It's a guy thing, you aren't going to get it....ever. You can pretend to laugh at a fart joke, but you aren't really in on it. You have to be a "pea brained" underacheiver with a "minuscule penis" to understand. As for Petraeus he was just being a man. A 60 year old flattered by the adultation and come on from a 40 year old woman who is marginally attractive(I find her kinda 'butch' actually). You know how immature men can be when it comes to sex. Our little brains just can't handle a women waving her panties at us. But the person you ought to be really pissed at, the person who set the sisterhood back 10 years, the person who betrayed your gender was Broadwell. You quoted her resume almost completely(you forgot the part about her bringing down the head of the CIA down). For all her accomplishments and acheivements what does she do? She uses sex in order to position herself next to a powerful man(And please don't bore us with excuses about how she couldn't resist his 60 year old Fabio good looks). What Broadwell did was something empowered, talented, equal, gender neutral women are supposed to be above. Or were you asleep in your Gender Studies classes? But the sisterhood holds firm doesn't it? And that is what sets women back, when they use sex instead of ability and talent to get ahead, you defend it and blame the man or men who ridicule her for betraying her feminist principles. Own that.

    • In the IDF, 'Lonely Soldier' is a term that describes soldiers serving on active duty who have no family is Israel. These are volunteers that came to serve for 3-5 years. They typically go back to their respective countries upon completion. Most commonly, these are people who immigrated to Israel by themselves. I was one of them. While in Israel, I lived in an apartment building where the majority of people were lonely soldiers. It was located on the outer ring of Jerusalem, surrounded by four Arab villages. My roommates were two recon guys (like me) and one who worked in field intel. All of the other inhabitants were soldiers from various units, with most of them serving a combat role. It was a well known thing, especially to the Arabs in the village. Most of the time we wouldn't be there, but when we were on leave, we would come to the apartment for a little R&R. It was rare that the four of us were there at the same time, but once in a blue moon, it did happen. Each village had, as is customary, its own mosque. When the time for prayer came, the loudspeakers would call out to the faithful. It was OK, we were used to it. However, over the weekend they would make it a point to play the call to prayer very, and I mean VERY, loud. They knew soldiers would be in the building trying to get some sleep - recovering from several weeks in the field. This always annoyed me but there was nothing I could do. On this particular weekend, after an intense seven weeks of non-stop ops, all I wanted was to go to the apartment, sleep, eat, sleep some more and then sleep again. That weekend the four of us were at the apartment and we were all equally tired. We arrived Thursday night and after a small dinner and some beers, we went to sleep. At 0400 we all jumped.... The freaking loudspeakers at all four mosques began their call to prayer at full blast. Fuck.... We spent the remainder of the day trying to rest and every time we would fall asleep, again... The call for prayers, full blast! Over lunch, we all looked at each other and knew this had to stop. We came up with a plan. I know it wasn't nice, but at that point we couldn't care less about political correctness. Here's what we did. After some recon that night, we noticed that the call to prayer wasn't performed by an Imam or some other person with a microphone. It was a tape recorder that used a tape. We figured the four of us, experts in stealthy infils, could sneak in and steal those tapes. However, while we were planning the different infil routes for each village, we all smiled and did something better. We recorded Metallica's 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' on repeat on all four tapes and then waited till midnight. At midnight, each one of us - armed with a Metallica tape - headed to a different village. All dressed in black, we were careful not to be seen. We entered into the buildings and exchanged the tapes. We rallied back to the exfil point, a crossroad not far from the last village and headed back to our apartment. And then we waited... At 0350 we went to the roof with some coffee, opened some field chairs and waited for the show to begin. At 0400 sharp the first "call" came alive, full volume: Make his fight On the hill in the early day Constant chill deep inside ... Take a look To the sky Just before you die It's the last time he will Followed by the next, then the 3rd and 4th joined in. Full volume Metallica! Soon after, we heard sirens headed to the villages. I don't know what happened after that, but we had our own private concert, right there. No kidding, there I was... Metallica call to prayer

No Kidding There I Was… Metallica Call to Prayer
