SOFREP’s Greatest Hits #9: MARSOC Motorcycle Gangs in Afghanistan

This was a great write up by Michael Golembesky, so much that the Army Times poached our entire piece! We did get a link to the site but they literally used the entire write up without a link back to the rest of our material. The throat punch goes to…

The South African Defence Force used to have a dedicated motorcyle unit. The unit was part of 1 SWA Specialist Unit (Swaspes) that also had specialist dog, horse and tracking units.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPEkptMECXs

I'm an aspiring writer.  If some pub sees my stuff somewhere and wants to reprint it I'll ask for some cred for the guys that gave me a break.  That's honorable.   Does SOFREP have an agreement with contributing writers that SOFREP be credited if the story is "discovered" by being published here?  Did Michael Golembesky shop out his piece to Army Times separate from publishing on SOFREP? (full disclosure, I'm interested in getting in the industry so common practices are of interest to me)   Doubtful Army Times just took it from SOFREP.  They had to get Mike's permission to print.  Did Mike ask for credit for SOFREP if his work was "discovered" here?   Bottom line is there isn't enough info to tell who's wrong or if there is something wrong going on here.  All that said, Army Times is owned by Gannett, who owns military.com and kitup so there may be some payback involved for Brandon/Jack striking out on their own.
