The question in my mind for the past few days, why didn't anyone make a stink about when Pilots were allowed to carry Concealed? A crew in a 747 can have nearly 500 passengers, more than in a school of the size of Sandy Hook. Not saying teachers must be armed, but if they have a CPL then whats the deal?

@Motokure  Lol, Moto, you already know the answer!  The anti-gunners just want to ban guns, period.  None of the stats matter, guns are just evil to them.  They ignore all intelligent conversation and anything positive ref. guns in the effort to rid the world of guns, in the hands of the good guys = us.

Trying to educate a Lib on guns is an exercise in futility because they don't care how many lives are saved by guns in the hands of the good guys.  Did you read any report on the 'good guy' ready to splash the shooter in the mall?  I didn't, I was alerted on REP, as usual......6

Yeah i did, the guy who made the decision not to shoot due to someone behind his target? Regular people are not supposed to be smart enough to know that, only the police and military

But, your right. We are losing the media war because Journalism is dead. I worked for a very liberal media company. I recorded Tea Party members protesting an autoshow back in the day. I had never heard of them before, but in my mind the message was reasonable. When i was done, i handed my footage over to the editor.

Well, the edited final version painted these guys as fools. I was shocked at how blatantly bias the end result was. I felt bad about contributing to that, still do.

Great show again, sound quality is top notch...Thanks Jack for putting to words the thoughts that those of us who recognize there is a problem with our country that isn't to blame on guns, but that our society is sick and is fracturing into a tons of different splinter groups....

I agree, parents are the ones ultimately responsible for their children. They have to instill the sense of humanity, responsibility and maturity that can't be legislated or governed. The background causes of the disintegration of the traditional family values are what need to be addressed in order for us to heal as a society starting from the ground-up, i.e. inflation, unemployment, pop culture, etc.

Waiting for the book to come out, keep pushing eachother to get that finished, there's a bunch of ppl waiting to hear what happened leading up to that terrible day.

@mrfrosty  @ajgamble Family values is one of those things you can't legislate for a variety of reasons and American's wouldn't want you to try.

In Tampa, all middle schools and high schools have a designated sheriff. however, most elementary schools dont. I would like to see armed security at every elementary school.

all school board facilities have security guards. in elementary schools, janitors serve as security guards....that pretty much sums up our logic towards school security.

@marbito11  I was a Chamberlain High Grad and we had 2 School Resource Officers on duty at all times.... and those guys didn't mess around.

There were certainly situations that warranted having more of a police present in Elementary Schools. Everything from Active shooters within a mile from campus to weapons being pulled from unruly parents.

As has been echoed throughout this forum, denial is our biggest enemy.

We have a former marine, John Hammer, detained on trumped-up charges in Mexico....there was a big article on SOFREP about a british soldier being detained in Britain for something similiar....is anyone here going to start a campaign to free one of our own? Thanks

@btrgo We will, but if you listened than you know I am a little busy.  You also know that because of previous errors in judgement, I am more cautious about condemning or supporting causes until I can investigate properly.

Anything you can do would be great im sure. After seeing this story for a week and seeing pictures of the young man detained and  chained to a bed over a old shotgun that was, as the mexican officials described, as an inch to short, i just think about him and his family and how he should be home for Christmas. Watching his mother interviewed on Fox this morning was sad. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.....PS. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida and Democratic Florida Sen. Bill Nelson have spoken about Hammar on the floor of the U.S. Capitol. More than two-dozen members of Congress have signed  a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano drafted by Ros-Lehtinen’s office. Read more here: http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/12/13/3141318/family-friends-of-former-us-marine.html#storylink=cpy   If you want to hurry your investigation just contact the offices of Sen Bill Nelson or Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. Thanks again...

I was commenting below as I was listening in the middle of the whole thing, not after listening to it all.  After listening to it all:

-- Don't fuck up your finals

-- Great job, Brandon is such a wet sock (yes you can tell him that... he needs to animate more)

-- You brought the "A" game.  good stuff.  I'm duly impressed.

The only feedback I here is on the topic of x # of guns/population.

You do realize that  most gun owners have more than 1 legally owned gun?  In fact, I'll offer myself up as a statistical starting point:  I  own 17 firearms of various flavors.  so the 250 million of 310 million stat is skewed somewhat.

Ever been to Texas?

BTW Quin, the sound quality between you and Jack was great. You both must have been on land lines. I think where things struggle is with BW on his cell and the guest is on a cell, and the half second delays and the cut outs when two people on cells are talking at the same time. Even then, the sound is good.

 Quin,

Are you going to post a schedule of when the show will be recording?  Also, will you take questions via text and email while you are broadcasting?  The show is great! Keep up the good work.

That's GREAT news Quin!! The hardest part with the Marcus bit was listening to BW try to ask questions but not be heard by ML while he was also talkiing and BW having to wait for a pause so that he could get his question in. Otherwise, the sound quality is already great. Very excited for you all.

@LauraKinCA  @Tango9 BW has pretty much the baddest mic set up you can get on the planet.  You're right, the limiting factor is shitty WIFI at a local Starbucks (BW's favorite) or cell phones.

Good news -  thanks to listener support, I just ordered a new land line system that according to sound engineers "will tame crappy cell phone audio."  We shall see.

Once installed, we can have a guest caller and also take live calls with everyone talking in real time.  It should be big radio sound.

It would go something like " SOFREP Radio.. your live with Brandon, Quin and Travis... what's your question....?"

Everything should be in place by 2013.

Extra special thanks to Mafia members for making this happen!

    • In the IDF, 'Lonely Soldier' is a term that describes soldiers serving on active duty who have no family is Israel. These are volunteers that came to serve for 3-5 years. They typically go back to their respective countries upon completion. Most commonly, these are people who immigrated to Israel by themselves. I was one of them. While in Israel, I lived in an apartment building where the majority of people were lonely soldiers. It was located on the outer ring of Jerusalem, surrounded by four Arab villages. My roommates were two recon guys (like me) and one who worked in field intel. All of the other inhabitants were soldiers from various units, with most of them serving a combat role. It was a well known thing, especially to the Arabs in the village. Most of the time we wouldn't be there, but when we were on leave, we would come to the apartment for a little R&R. It was rare that the four of us were there at the same time, but once in a blue moon, it did happen. Each village had, as is customary, its own mosque. When the time for prayer came, the loudspeakers would call out to the faithful. It was OK, we were used to it. However, over the weekend they would make it a point to play the call to prayer very, and I mean VERY, loud. They knew soldiers would be in the building trying to get some sleep - recovering from several weeks in the field. This always annoyed me but there was nothing I could do. On this particular weekend, after an intense seven weeks of non-stop ops, all I wanted was to go to the apartment, sleep, eat, sleep some more and then sleep again. That weekend the four of us were at the apartment and we were all equally tired. We arrived Thursday night and after a small dinner and some beers, we went to sleep. At 0400 we all jumped.... The freaking loudspeakers at all four mosques began their call to prayer at full blast. Fuck.... We spent the remainder of the day trying to rest and every time we would fall asleep, again... The call for prayers, full blast! Over lunch, we all looked at each other and knew this had to stop. We came up with a plan. I know it wasn't nice, but at that point we couldn't care less about political correctness. Here's what we did. After some recon that night, we noticed that the call to prayer wasn't performed by an Imam or some other person with a microphone. It was a tape recorder that used a tape. We figured the four of us, experts in stealthy infils, could sneak in and steal those tapes. However, while we were planning the different infil routes for each village, we all smiled and did something better. We recorded Metallica's 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' on repeat on all four tapes and then waited till midnight. At midnight, each one of us - armed with a Metallica tape - headed to a different village. All dressed in black, we were careful not to be seen. We entered into the buildings and exchanged the tapes. We rallied back to the exfil point, a crossroad not far from the last village and headed back to our apartment. And then we waited... At 0350 we went to the roof with some coffee, opened some field chairs and waited for the show to begin. At 0400 sharp the first "call" came alive, full volume: Make his fight On the hill in the early day Constant chill deep inside ... Take a look To the sky Just before you die It's the last time he will Followed by the next, then the 3rd and 4th joined in. Full volume Metallica! Soon after, we heard sirens headed to the villages. I don't know what happened after that, but we had our own private concert, right there. No kidding, there I was... Metallica call to prayer
