On today’s show -

We’ve got special guest Cade Courtly. Cade is a former US Navy SEAL and also the host of Spike TV’s Surviving Disaster.

Cade is one of the few Navy SEAL Officers to ever complete the Navy SEAL Sniper course.

Later in the show, you’ll hear how Cade made the transition from Navy SEAL to Hollywood. It’s a funny story to say the least.

And if that’s not enough,…we also discuss gun control laws, offer a few solutions of our own, and do what we can to spark up some intelligent conversation on the topic. Let’s take some action so we can avoid facing more stupid gun laws.

We take listener calls and also hit up the mail buoy.

Last but not least…Throat PUNCH of the week!

Keep up the good work. And nice job with the push for gun bans. There are extremist on both sides. We need people with level heads push things so that Gunn rights aren't infringed, but are safer for everyone. Done.

Do you remember when you could smoke in restaurants? All the tables had ashtrays. Then, smokers were segregated into a smoking section. Then they were told they could only smoke at the bar. Then they got told they had to go outside to smoke. Now they have to stand 50 feet away from any entrance to smoke.

The NRA understands this incremental erosion of rights, that's why they are so recalcitrant. It starts with licensing, then registration and before you know it, you're getting pennies on the dollar on the weapons you've been forced to turn in. Just like England and Australia.

Not sure if the smoking analogy is the best here, since the benefits have been greater.

@Surf375 Without getting into the whole second hand smoke hysteria, the principle is the same. Chip away until it's all gone. Hell, deadbeat dads are held in higher regard than smokers in some circles.

Good show.

Here's some sad news for all of you guys in the media and all of us who appreciate your work:

Huell Howser dies at 67; TV host profiled California people and placesKnown for his gee-whiz enthusiasm in interviews, Huell Howser highlighted the familiar and the obscure all around the state. His public TV series included 'California's Gold,' 'Visiting,' 'Road Trip' and 'Downtown.'

Huell Howser seemed an unlikely candidate to become a television star — a big, grinning ex-Marine with a molasses-smooth Tennessee drawl and an eye for stories that others would pass by, such as the Bunny Museum in Pasadena and the rendering of artwork out of dryer lint.

His platform was traditional and unflashy — highlighting familiar and obscure spots all around California in public television series, particularly "California's Gold." But though his shows were focused on points and people of interest, it was Howser who turned into the main attraction, tackling his subjects with an awe-struck curiosity and relentless enthusiasm.

Howser, 67, an iconic figure in public television, died at home Sunday night, his assistant Ryan Morris said. The cause of death was not released.

A tribute to the man who could make anything interesting. This is a random assortment of some of my favorite moments from California's Gold: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=539jdK3eN1o

Thanks for airing out the way "normal" ppl like us think about the gun issue. I'm for background checks which we always have to pass, but the mental evaluation part right now is tricky. If you are on anxiety medication it can be used as grounds to deny your application and along with any type of marks on your record, even if you're found innocent or had the charges dropped. Clear-cut pass/fail guidelines would be a step forward, along with more access to firearm training and education to make people aware of what gun ownership really is about.

At my Cabelas, it's all gone. There's no 5.56 and not a single AR anywhere, basically no pistols in stock, or at least that's what they're trying to make it look like. Here in NJ, we have to apply for pistol permits, can only get 3 at a time and they expire 90 days after. So there actually is a limit on how many pistols you can buy, look out rest of the country. BS protectionist government is coming to your state soon, and you'll see why we hate our state with a passion.

@ajgamble Preach on brother,  In CA we are only allowed to DROS 1 pistol every 30 days and the DROS expires 30 days . We are also required to take a handgun safety course and pass it before even beginning the DROS. We are issued a handgun safety card with a 5 year shelf life on it whish is asked for whenever attempting to purchase a pistol.     I just want a can and I dont want to have to use a device to block me from having a full grip just so I can use my pre ban mags.    AAAHH well, I guess my issues are moot since all my guns were lost or sold....its a damn shame.

Funny side note, I was seeing who the producer was that screwed B. Webb and his guys, and came up with G.Forbes III from IMDB.com I started checking his credits, and apparently Cade Courtley was an actor in a TV show called Operation Anaconda: The Battle of Robert's Ridge...Small world, guess he did a bunch of stuff. And the producer, which they called "Gordo" lol on the show, has done a bunch of military related shows.

im not opposed to registering guns or having a license. however, canada abandoned its registration database because it was deemed useless and expensive.

licensing is a funny name for a "user fee" or tax. the gov tends to abuse user fees. i worked for the gov and at the time they had an agenda to reduce traffic by skyrocketing tolls. same thing applies for booze  and tabacco. guns are no different.....the gov have an anti gun agenda. they will have a $500 fee for licensing a $300. gun.....in a way, it infringes the 2nd amendment.

    • In the IDF, 'Lonely Soldier' is a term that describes soldiers serving on active duty who have no family is Israel. These are volunteers that came to serve for 3-5 years. They typically go back to their respective countries upon completion. Most commonly, these are people who immigrated to Israel by themselves. I was one of them. While in Israel, I lived in an apartment building where the majority of people were lonely soldiers. It was located on the outer ring of Jerusalem, surrounded by four Arab villages. My roommates were two recon guys (like me) and one who worked in field intel. All of the other inhabitants were soldiers from various units, with most of them serving a combat role. It was a well known thing, especially to the Arabs in the village. Most of the time we wouldn't be there, but when we were on leave, we would come to the apartment for a little R&R. It was rare that the four of us were there at the same time, but once in a blue moon, it did happen. Each village had, as is customary, its own mosque. When the time for prayer came, the loudspeakers would call out to the faithful. It was OK, we were used to it. However, over the weekend they would make it a point to play the call to prayer very, and I mean VERY, loud. They knew soldiers would be in the building trying to get some sleep - recovering from several weeks in the field. This always annoyed me but there was nothing I could do. On this particular weekend, after an intense seven weeks of non-stop ops, all I wanted was to go to the apartment, sleep, eat, sleep some more and then sleep again. That weekend the four of us were at the apartment and we were all equally tired. We arrived Thursday night and after a small dinner and some beers, we went to sleep. At 0400 we all jumped.... The freaking loudspeakers at all four mosques began their call to prayer at full blast. Fuck.... We spent the remainder of the day trying to rest and every time we would fall asleep, again... The call for prayers, full blast! Over lunch, we all looked at each other and knew this had to stop. We came up with a plan. I know it wasn't nice, but at that point we couldn't care less about political correctness. Here's what we did. After some recon that night, we noticed that the call to prayer wasn't performed by an Imam or some other person with a microphone. It was a tape recorder that used a tape. We figured the four of us, experts in stealthy infils, could sneak in and steal those tapes. However, while we were planning the different infil routes for each village, we all smiled and did something better. We recorded Metallica's 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' on repeat on all four tapes and then waited till midnight. At midnight, each one of us - armed with a Metallica tape - headed to a different village. All dressed in black, we were careful not to be seen. We entered into the buildings and exchanged the tapes. We rallied back to the exfil point, a crossroad not far from the last village and headed back to our apartment. And then we waited... At 0350 we went to the roof with some coffee, opened some field chairs and waited for the show to begin. At 0400 sharp the first "call" came alive, full volume: Make his fight On the hill in the early day Constant chill deep inside ... Take a look To the sky Just before you die It's the last time he will Followed by the next, then the 3rd and 4th joined in. Full volume Metallica! Soon after, we heard sirens headed to the villages. I don't know what happened after that, but we had our own private concert, right there. No kidding, there I was... Metallica call to prayer
