Algeria, Mali and Syria Oh My!

by Brandon Webb · January 18, 2013 · Posted In: Op-Ed
Algeria, Mali and Syria and chemical weapons
If ever there was a time for strong leadership in the Department of State and US Special Operations Command it’s now. Hilary Clinton has proven to be more concerned with her political ambition than actually developing a long-term strategy to promote diplomacy abroad. McRaven is a seasoned leader however, his tier one boys at DEVGRU (SEAL Team Six) are facing a myriad of self-created problems; some we choose not to say publicly.

The new Secretary of State will have their work cut out for them that’s for sure. The Middle East and North Africa (the new terror safe haven) continue to be as volatile as ever.

Syria-civil war with the U.S./EU versus China/Russia

Kuwait-continues to arrest outspoken citizens on Twitter

Iran-laughing to themselves as they go Nuclear

N. Korea-who the hell knows

Somalia-Piracy is alive and well.

Mali-AQ camped out with other extremists.

Libya-stray Uranium and Chemical weapons. Algeria attack may be linked to Libyan camps.

Algeria-U.S. hostages under siege. Delta will likely get the dirty work while DEV is benched.

And the list goes on, and on…

McRaven’s SOCOM is stretched thin but poised to deal with just about any threats thrown at them.  The Special Ops spear has never been sharper. I’m more worried about Mrs. Clinton, her memory loss, and a State Department ship sailing in the dark of the night with no one at the helm…No wonder Erik Prince has moved into Africa.

You can be sure that Clnton's successor at State & their staff will continue to do little or nothing about all those situations listed above..

Wednesday she did the usual D.C. politician routine of acting self-righteously indignant with the usual "How dare you accuse me of..." melodrama and crocodile tears.

Although I don't know how directly involved she was or not on 9/11/12 during the Benghazi crisis, I do know that at least 4-7 of her staff members basically sat around & played their violins so to speak while the Benghazi embassy burned and 4 men on location there died.

The bureaucratic nitwit pinheads include Eric Boswell, Charlene Lamb, and Raymond Maxwell along with 3 other unnamed individuals.

What should make your blood boil further is that "Some of those who resigned may have the option of being reassigned to other duties" said an official in one news report.

Iow, they got a slap on the wrist, maybe a finger shake, and will not face a single penalty of any substantial kind. Chances are some of them have already been given another office or cubicle down the hall.

If it were up to me, heads would roll. Literally.

@Allwet@dmalert  Syria policy: here's a link to an article that may shed some light on why Obama likes Kerry for SoS.  Kerry has a long history of courting Bashar al-Assad. The author is clearly sympathetic to the nominee.

Personally I don't think John "Liveshot" Kerry is anywhere close to measuring up to the challenge of serving as SoS.  We're glad to be rid of him up here in Mass. but at the same time, we fear for the nation.

@oldSquid@Tango9  With all the other BS we've had from him over the years, it sounds believable.  But turns out he really is a Forbes on his mother's side, a genuine one-percenter and an elitist, judging from his "stay in school or you'll wind up in Iraq" comments.

However just for the record, when his father's parents came to the US from Austria-Hungary, they changed their name to Kerry.

 @Tango9 u-h-h-h.... John Freakin' Kerry?

When he was attempting to run for president - before he got 'swift boated', there was a story out that he had legally changed his name so his initials would read J.F.K. Also the reason he was hot to trot to get into swift boats - modern PT boats, if you will - was to emulate his hero and idol John F. Kennedy. Note his hairstyle as well..... there a sharp knife comment in here somewhere...

@PM9 The scuttlebutt is they will bring it back, Jack implied there is something going on.  My guess is they want to maybe change the look and get more contributors.  I know this was the foundation that both Jack and Brandon came from over at KITUP!  In the mean time check out the ARMS Guide link on this page.  Destinee has a nice civilian look at CCW, training, choosing a gun, and choosing holsters.

Hopefully, DEV will work out the kinks and get back in the saddle. I hope it for their sake, Delta deserves their own slice of the pie and since they seem more than capable of doing so without attracting every swinging camera then this "restructuring" (poor choice of words I'm sure) might be just what JSOC needs.

Kerry will be approved overwhelmingly, in fact I believe all the furor over Susan Rice by McCain and his sidekick Lindsey Graham was designed to derail her and favor their friend John Kerry....who gives a shit about TALKING POINTS, the real questions are how did it happen and why.....Finally, all the activity in North Africa, Syria, etal....is nothing but a prelude to the real battle which will be the next major attack on Israel....we've had how many Israel/Arab wars only this time the weapons are potentially much more powerful and the end result is potentially catastrophic...

Mr. Kerry's military and intelligence connections are well established.  He's a party animal, but not the good kind like like Mr. Clinton.  Can we trust him with the ship of state?  All I can say is watch this:

44 seconds in you will go to the old Dick Cavett show interview with John Kerry, you decide if this guy should lead our nation's Foreign Policy.

@KineticFury  @Old PH2 Very simply I've watched what John Kerry did over the years, not what he said.  Case closed.  During the Swift Boat controversy it appears to me their facts were correct.  John Kerry's anti war pursuits sealed the deal long before he ran for prez and was exposed.  Very strong feelings about that.

The American Military is focused on the "Pacific Shift."  I guess the enemy is not playing by our future battle plans...  So much for trying to understand current threats and focusing on a war that may occur in the next 20 or so years.
