@staillat Looks like you have enough, though long haul? Rotation is not preferred, best to keep the units that build a rapport in situ

Jack, am I correct to say then that there isn't much involvement of the Légion Etrangère (Foreign Legion)? They kind of have a history in this region.

Outstanding, Jack. It never fails to amaze me the ringside seat we have here at REP and thanks to the French REP members is even more interesting. I would say most don't even know anything is happening in North Africa. These details are fascinating. The French are definitely not making the quick exit they planned.

@Txazz just for the record, no one over here has been planning about a quick exit out of Mali. We've been in the region for more than a century, and are likely to remain there...for quite some time. Well after those djihadists are all gone and dead.

Some politics mentioned March as a "withdraw date". I'm not sure for whom it was meant for (french media, international allies, african allies, hostage takers, take your pick) but a good friend of mine just got word that his regiment would probably be next in the rotation in 2 or 3 months. Each tour is probably gonna be 4 to 6 months each. The only question is how many tours its gonna take before we reach an acceptable level of threat in that region.

@TimUFR Tim, thanks and all news is appreciated. Besides knowing what's going on you also get more local news (like on the kidnapped family as I didn't see any new news lately).
