The onset of Robin Sage is actually public knowledge in a large part of North Carolina, in no small part because so many locals are involved. Fifteen counties are acknowledged as part of Pineland: Moore, Alamance, Anson, Cabarrus, Chatham, Davidson, Guilford, Hoke, Montgo-mery, Randolph, Richmond, Rowan, Scotland, Stanly and Union. Locals are used to the occasional odd sight and sound and are actually notified by local paper and radio when the large-scale exercise (dealing with raid planning, FID and numerous other topics) is about to begin. Much of this is to prevent a repeat of a tragic event about ten years ago when two trainees were killed by a local Sheriff’s Deputy.
Here’s an example of local notification, from Southern Pines, NC or local news from Moore County.
