My friend and former SEAL Teammate Don Shipley runs a pretty bad ass program for men interested in the SEAL experience.  Don is a stand up guy and also volunteers his time as a SEAL verifier, this means that he has official endorsement to our training database and busts phony SEALs (just the really bad ones like ones that take money/donations from trusting people).

Totally unrelated questions??  Several years ago I was traveling from Reno to Vegas, took the 'scenic' desert route, in the middle of nowhere, as is Nevada desert, came upon an area designated "US Navy SEAL" Training Area!!  No Trespassing signs everywhere except the road I was on.  This was approximately 10-12 years ago, was this a work up area for OIF etc?  Always wondered about the Navy in the desert until relating it to the SEALS.   6-out

 @Recon6 I wonder if it was part of NAS Fallon, Were you anywhere near the Truckee Meadows area?  FITRON 43 and the TOPGUN aggressor det run out of there.  Ask Hornet Driver, He was a buddy / Mentor to Neptunus Rex.  Rex passed last year Driving IAI supplied Kfirs out of Fallon.  

 

A side note, the high mesa in that area is, I am told a very good approximation of AF/Pak.

 @Old PH2 Thanks Bro, now I've got to get my maps out and figure where I was!!  Definitely not Fallon, spent several hours moving around trying to find a route 'in" as my curiosity was rampant.  Even took my 4 wheeler up the hills to find something, off road.

Nada, just left me with a deep curiosity and no one to ask.  Sidebar:  Also found a lobster farm out there!  Guy had millions of tiny lobsters thriving under plastic roofs, said he sold them to restaurants when mature!  Again, in the fucking Nevada desert, lol

 @ACS  Give me a mess o'greens, cracklin' corn bread, Bass, Brim, Bluegill, Catfish, maybe some fried corn.  Oh man!!!  It's a good thing my wife lived in the South when I found her.  You should hear her, Persian accent with y'all thrown in liberally.  Still cracks me up!

 @ACS  @Recon6  @Old I do like farm raised catfish though, and the farm raised crawfish are pretty good too.

 

Spent too much time in the deep South, love me some Soul Food and Cajun too.

 @Recon6 That area has salt marshes that are a national wildlife reserve, part of the Western Flyway for migratory waterfowl.  The Lobsters are a great story. 

 

Somewhere out there is a ghost town that is really cool to poke around in.  If I recall the place is in an arroyo and you must drive up the dry river bed to get there.
