SOFREP: MARSOC Pre-Deployment Exercise
Marine Special Operations Battalion, or MSOB, is the newest special operations unit to fall under SOCOM. Recon Marines have long been considered Special Ops within the community, but until MARSOC, weren’t formally under SOCOM command.
MARSOC has tons of Marines assigned to it, but the MSOB’s are where the shooters or operators live (Critical Skills Operators 0372 MOS). The MSOBs are tasked with providing special reconnaissance and direct action missions to combatant commanders where needed as an expeditionary Special Operations Force.
