Cool article Luke, Mr. Clemens had so many great quotes. My personal favorites are: "The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why." "It is better to be thought a fool and remain silent than to speak and remove all doubt."
Recurring quote in my line of work: "Whiskey's for drinking; water's for fighting over." He may or may not have actually said this; it is almost always ascribed to him. (Never let the facts get in the way of a good story......ALSO often ascribed to Mark Twain.) Nice introspection. Much of it creates an echo effect, so I'm probably already biased and content with confirmation. (Except the part about the Millennials. I'm still learning to downshift expectations every time I turn around, so it's tough for me to swallow the concept that they are responsible adults as a whole. Sorry. Maybe I'll eventually get there.) On further reflection, I think it may be time to get a dog. ;-)
Ya, that one. Ah, so true so true.
This one---"Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of Congress; but I repeat myself."
“There is something fascinating about science. One gets such wholesale returns of conjecture out of such a trifling investment of fact.” Especially when using alternative facts. I believe Twain was the original stand up comedian. Maybe the best. And brilliant author. A great American.
