Tonight, at 10 p.m. EST on Fox News, the show “War Stories with Oliver North” will feature Navy SEAL Leif Babin discussing ISIS and their proliferation on social media and the Internet. Specifically, he’ll examine how ISIS is able to recruit supporters globally utilizing the “dark web.” ISIS capitalized on the reach that social media offers, and as a result, their numbers continue to grow as new recruits join their ranks throughout the Middle East, Africa, and other parts of the world. He will also give some insight on the San Bernardino husband and wife terrorists, and explore additional details that came to light leading up to the attack.
Leif Babin is a decorated former Navy SEAL, author of “Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win” (a #1 New York Times best-selling business book), and co-founder of a leadership consulting company called Echelon Front. He is a 13-year Navy veteran with nine years spent as a Navy SEAL, and is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. He is the recipient of the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, and a Purple Heart.
Babin served as a SEAL platoon commander in SEAL Team Three’s Task Unit Bruiser during the Iraq War. There, he planned and led major combat operations in the Battle of Ramadi that helped the “Ready First” brigade of the U.S. Army’s 1st Armored Division bring stability to the violent, war-torn city. Task Unit Bruiser became the most highly decorated special operations unit of the Iraq War.
Following his deployment to Iraq, he served as one of the primary leadership instructors for the officers graduating from the SEAL training pipeline and was able to shape the leadership training in order to better prepare the new Navy SEALs for the immense challenges of combat.
During his last deployment, Leif returned to Iraq as the operations officer and executive officer for a SEAL team as part of a special operations task force. In 2011, Leif left active duty and co-founded Echelon Front, a leadership consulting company that helps others build their own high-performance, winning teams. His leadership training has been successfully used by a wide variety of clients—from individuals to larger organizations. Leif actively speaks on leadership, U.S. military strategy, and foreign-policy matters. Additionally, his editorials have been published in the Wall Street Journal and he has appeared on a variety of national television news and radio programs.
