Marine Sergeant Alex Kesler demonstrates marksmanship principles while firing the M40A5 long-range precision sniper rifle. For the Marines out there, remember the ditty/acronym LMGAS? This rifle fits the bill: lightweight, magazine-fed, gas-operated, air-cooled, shoulder-fired rifle. Some of these rules don’t apply to the sniper rifle, but shooting fundamentals remain the same. The Marines use the M8541 scout sniper day scope while whipping 7.62mm rounds on target. Sergeant Kesler illustrates a good shooting position and how to dial in one’s optics considering wind and elevation.
