The mindset of warfare can be cultivated and examined without the need for hostile action. Through military simulation, factors of our current political and social climate can be combined with existing threats to collectively give protective forces the most credible training environments. It’s important to keep training environments fluid based on these geo-political factors to avoid simulations from being inherently flawed through a standard response. Check out this recent exercise conducted by Ukrainian forces combating a simulated assault on the Israeli embassy in Kiev (Drew Dwyer).
The Israeli embassy in Kiev turned into a terror scene for a day – as part of a training exercise for Ukrainian security forces. Within the framework of the exercise, initiated by the Ukrainian Ministry of Interior, security forces simulated terror attack scenarios on the Israeli embassy in Kiev. The Israeli representatives in the Embassy also took part in the exercise, as did Ukrainian army, police and firefighting forces.
The beginning of the exercise featured a simulation of a scenario in which terrorists broke into the embassy, took hostages and threatened to kill them and destroy the building. Special forces then broke into the building at several points, freed the hostages and killed the terrorists. The Foreign Ministry confirmed that the exercise (shown below in the video) did, indeed, take place at the Israeli embassy in Kiev.
