I remember that day like it was yesterday. That guy saved my platoon's ass, not gonna lie. We did take that fuckin hill btw haha. Those AC 130's were the coolest fucking things I've ever seen haha.
I actually know one of the JTAC's that were there during the engagement, solid guy all the way around. Prior Security Forces before retraining. The link below is more on the engagement. Stay strong McAffrey! http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123262547
When the shit hits the fan, JTACs carry the weight of the world. Once that bomb comes off the rails, good or bad it has your name on it. Good control!
@sully78 Thanks for the tip Sully. I'm glad that Travis is out there keeping it real. You never know where a Ranger is going to end up!
I posted this in a few places and sent to Jack (sorry I left out the TACP info) because Tavis was my Squad Leader when I was in 3rd Batt. and is someone I looked up to as a private. His Tab was the one pinned on my shoulder the day I graduated Ranger School. He is an awesome dude, one of those crazy guys you never forget. He is a Ranger to his soul no matter what the uniform. He loves this stuff and his several trips into war zones with not only Batt. but some contacting companies and his Guard units have proven that. As his mother states in another interview about him being awarded the Silver Star: "He really does feel that it is his duty as an American citizen to defend his country. He loves his country." If only more people felt this way we wouldn't have so many shitheads running around posing as Rangers, SEAL's, Delta, and other SpecOps they would actually earn their place and show their love for America and everyone living here.
