John Adams, wrote to his wife Abigail back home in Massachusetts that Independence Day should be America’s biggest annual event,
” The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America.—I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.”
If John Adams were alive today and wanted to find an Independence Day celebration with the pomp, parade, shows, games, sports, and everything else he mentioned, he could find it on Fox Nation where it’s Independence Day every day.

Patriotism or the love of your country doesn’t come naturally to people, we learn it from our parents, schools, and entertainment media. And the programming on Fox Nation is unabashedly patriotic in a time when there is a significant anti-patriotism movement afoot in this country.
There is a whole new season of What Made America Great with Brian Kilmeade. He travels to Little Havana, Miami to tell one of the most successful immigration stories in our history, that of the Cuban exiles who fled Castro and his totalitarian communist regime.
At the Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Springs, WV Brian tours a massive underground bunker beneath a five-star resort that was built for Congress as a redoubt in case the U.S. was attacked with nuclear weapons by the Soviet Union. You gotta see this bunker complex to believe it. For most of its existence, even the people running the Greenbrier didn’t know it was there.
Brian also visits Hemingway House in Key West, FL, and then Montauk NY. There, land developer Carl Fisher poured millions into trying to make a bunch of sheep pastures with just three houses in the whole hamlet into a playground for the rich. Fisher had previously had some modest success turning an old “crocodile hole” into a pretty successful resort area.
It was called Miami Beach.
In Women of the White House, Rachel Campos-Duffy travels the country and shows you the fascinating history of our nation’s most prominent First Ladies. Learn about the lives and legacies of First Ladies Dolley Madison, Mary Todd Lincoln, Edith Wilson, and Eleanor Roosevelt.
On July 2, drops a new season of Untold: Patriots Revealed with Pete Hegseth. As the title implies, these are the stories of American patriots that most of us never knew about. People like Margaret Corbin, or Captain Molly, as she’s known to history. During her lifetime, her wartime triumphs were celebrated nationally and even applauded by General Washington. But some of her feats remained a family secret for more than 200 years.
Park’D now in Season Five brings you down south with some unforgettable views of our nation’s national parks. From the mighty Grand Canyon or Guadalupe Peak in Guadalupe Mountains National Park to the tranquil beauty of Biscayne National Park in Florida, Abby Hornacek explores the rich history of our nation’s preserves.
American country music singer-songwriter Lee Greenwood wrote God Bless the U.S.A. in 1983. The song has become America’s second National Anthem. What most people don’t know is that Greenwood has traveled the globe performing for our servicemen and women. He has a new special airing on July 11 called Proud to Be An American that I’m going to watch for sure.
Fox Nation has extended its “Grateful Nation” promotion. From July 1 to July 4, if you are a veteran or on active duty, you can get an entire year of Fox Nation for free. Click the link below to sign up.
I don’t know about you, but our Independence Day always invokes in me great feelings of patriotism and gratitude for my country. A country that took in my ancestors from Sicily and Ireland, which were two of the poorest places on earth just before the turn of the century when my mother’s side of the family came here. America wasn’t a wealthy country then either, but they still came anyway because America held out the promise of a new start under a new system of government that protected the rights of individuals under a capitalist system that rewarded hard work. In a generation they were successful financially, living better than they ever dreamed of living in their home countries. I grew up listening to my grandparents who were first-generation Americans telling me that this country and the freedoms it protected should never be taken for granted because such freedoms in the world were rare.
You may have noticed above that John Adams referenced July 2 as Independence Day, this is because the Continental Congress voted for Independence in Philadelphia on July 2. The written Declaration of Independence was dated July 4, while the actual signing of the document was on August 2. Independence was a big thing to Revolutionaries like Adams, Jefferson, and Franklin. They knew breaking away from Great Brittain would not be easy or without bloodshed. They knew King George would send the army and navy to retain his colonies and colonists. Those colonists had been on the North American continent for so long that they no longer identified with the culture of Great Britain; in fact, they were mocked and scorned as “provincials” in England. They were the “Yankee Doodles” as the song popular in London’s sophisticated circles said.
As the American colonists grew further and further apart from a uniquely British identity they created something entirely new for themselves, an American identity. A sense of nation and being a new People and culture in a new country. And here we are today, the richest, most powerful nation the world has ever known.
And Happy Independence Day from all of us here at SOFREP.
