As more details are coming out about the terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 84 people, stories of heroism are starting to emerge. In the video below you will see a motorcycle driver trying to stop the driver. The Guardian quotes an eye witness:

A German journalist, who witnessed the attack during Bastille Day celebrations in the French coastal city, said he saw a motorcyclist dismount and try to enter the cabin but fall and end up under the wheels.

“I stood on the balcony, right on the Promenade des Anglais, and saw how people celebrated there, and how suddenly a truck drove through the crowd,” Richard Gutjahr, who shot smartphone video footage of the incident, told Agence France-Presse on Friday.

“Surprisingly, [the truck driver] drove very slowly, not fast. He drove slowly and he was chased by a motorcyclist,” Gutjahr said. “The motorcyclist attempted to overtake the truck and even tried to open the driver’s door, but he fell and ended up under the wheels of the truck.”

An unidentified female police officer has been credited for stopping the attack as she jumped in front front of the truck. Her action gave other police time to react and fire on the driver. You can watch police engage and stop the terrorist HERE.

Police then opened fire, killing French-Tunisian delivery driver Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel. Éric Ciotti, a lawyer for the department of Alpes-Maritimes, said the person showed “extraordinary courage,” adding: “It was at that moment that the police were able to stop the terrorist.” The driver in the cab of the truck attempted to shoot the unnamed policewoman and the surrounding officers but missed. “I will never forget the look of the policewoman who intercepted the killer,” Ciotti said. -The Daily Beast

An 8 month old boy is reunited with his family after they were located on Facebook. The infant was found in a stroller alone immediately following the chaos of the terrorist attack. A women found him, took him home, and immediately began searching for his family.

An eight-month-old baby boy lost in the chaos after a truck rammed into a crowd in the French Riviera city of Nice has been tracked down through Facebook.

The boy, who was in a blue stroller, was lost when the rampaging truck killed at least 84 people and sent hundreds of people who had been watching Bastille Day fireworks fleeing in panic. Tiava Banner – who said she was not the mother of the baby – sent out an appeal on Facebook looking for any information on his whereabouts.

The post was shared thousands of times until it was updated with: “Found! Thank you Facebook and all those who helped us.”

A member of the family contacted on Friday said: “A young woman found him and took him home with her. She then went online and found the photo of the baby on Facebook.”

The woman then contacted the baby’s parents. – The Guardian
