Sticking the barrel of your rifle 3′ into the air each time you peek probably isn’t the best tactic to use.

In the book “We were Soldiers Once, and Young” one of the survivors gives an account of an NVA that kept sticking his head between the fork of a Y-shaped tree. The guy recounts that he was frustrated because he kept shooting at and missing the NVA. After their part of the battle was over he went and looked behind the tree and found six dead bodies.

Why would you stick your head back into a gap that you know another sniper has in their sights?
