According to the press release, the top rail on this version of the AUG A3 M1 boasts 25 numbered slots. That’s two more than the original flat-top AUG A3 SA. This provides an increase in surface area to use optics and iron sights. The longer top rail extends a full 5.5 inches back from the receiver, placing its rear edge nearly in line with the front of the ejection port for improved placement of a rear iron sight.
Chambered in 5.56x45mm, the AUG A3 M1 Long Rail also includes lightening cuts along either side and milled areas underneath to reduce weight. Speaking of weight, the AUG A3 M1 Long Rail weighs in at 7.8 pounds, and it’s available in Black, Mud, OD Green or White. It also comes with either the standard AUG stock or the NATO-style stocks, both of which accept STANAG mags.
