They call it the Air because of its weight; it weighs damn near nothing when you hold it in your hands. The second thing you’ll notice right out of the box is the head strap. All the other headlamps that I own, all have an elastic stretchable strap that hold the lamp secure to your head. The UCO Air headlamp comes with what they call a precision fit adjustable strap by way of hook and loop.
I was a little leary at first thinking this was just going to constantly be moving on my head causing my to have to constantly adjust it; not the case after using it the first time. My first time out with the headlamp was for a 2 mile night run. Once I got the headlamp adjusted to my head there was not other micro adjustments needed throughout the run.
The light itself is adjustable downward which posed the only issue with running. The lamp kept creeping downward on me causing the beam of light to slowly but steadily go from being out in front of me to pointing to my feet. Other than that small critique the Air headlamp worked great for my evening run.
The intensity of the light is adjusted by rotating the head of the lamp similar to your old school maglite flashlights. This gives you a much more finer adjustment over the standard push button modes found on many headlamps.
Overall I’m impressed with the different features of the Air over others available on the market. I’ve not had this headlamp out in any inclement weather conditions, so I cannot speak to that as of this writing. If I comes across anything detrimental throughout my use of the Air headlamp I’ll be sure to add the updates to this article.
