About the Artist: Mark began pencil drawings of Civil War battlefields when he was three years old. Since a young age, he has enjoyed creating art as a means to have a conversation with another presence, showing respect and honor each time by giving his best effort, insight, and empathy.  

Mark enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1972. He served as a personalist on a Destroyer Tender, USS Sierra (AD-18) in Norfolk, VA and Charleston, SC, and as an active duty stationkeeper at the Naval Reserve Center, South Charleston, WV. After his service in the military, Mark earned his MFA from West Virginia University and worked as a higher education professor for over 20 years while exhibiting art. His artworks are in numerous private collections in the United States and Germany.

Duty with HSL-30, NAS Norfolk and HSL-36, NAF Mayport.
