The Green Party presidential candidate, Jill Stein managed to raise 7 million dollars to challenge the election results in three swing states (Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan) citing that the election was hacked by the Russians and claim the voting machines have been tampered with. So far the recount in Pennsylvania has netted Clinton with five additional votes. The other states have not finished their counts yet.
According to the New York Times, while the Clinton campaign supports Stein’s efforts, one of her campaign lawyers, Marc Elias stated that if the election’s outcome were to change it would be, “the largest margin ever overcome in a recount.”
If the margin is too great to overcome and there is no evidence of hacking or tampering, this will be just another incident in which Stein has cried wolf. The 7 million dollars raised for the recount could have been used elsewhere such as charities to help those in need.
