Kathy Griffin’s stunt depicting President Trump decapitated backfires

The self-proclaimed “D” list celebrity and comedian, Kathy Griffin was recently photographed proudly toting a replica of the severed and bloody head of President Donald Trump. This wasn’t a quick last-minute selfie rather a full-on photo shoot with photographer Tyler Shields to airbrush her with the bloody head.  TMZ published the image on Tuesday.

While every US citizen is entitled to their first amendment right, there is still an unseen line of common decency and respect. Whether you like Donald Trump or not, he still holds the office of our President. An image that supports violence towards the US President crosses that line.

President Trump did respond to the image on Twitter, stating “Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11-year-old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!”

After the fallout over the image, Kathy appeared in a video to deliver this message.

“I’m a comic. I cross the line. I move the line, then I cross it. I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn’t funny. I get it.”

Following the photo shoot, CNN fired Griffin from her annual appearance in the New Year’s Eve Program. She has also lost several other endorsements.

Kathy Griffin has not been the only one in Hollywood to promote violence or harm towards President Trump, Madonna stated she thought about blowing up the White House at a women’s march and Snoop Dogg fired a toy gun at a clown dressed as President Trump in a music video.

While this political and “comic” stunt did cross the line, unfortunately Kathy Griffin did achieve another 10 minutes of fame. Even now, I regret writing a 300 word count article about her.
