New Details Emerge in Lead-Up to Bergdahl Trial

The Bergdahl saga continues. Former unit members have once again come forward to speak out against his actions. This time, new information has been shared about statements that Bergdahl made regarding his desire to be embedded with the Taliban in a capacity similar to a reporter. Also, new details have emerged about how unit leaders ignored warnings about Bergdahl’s suspicious behavior before he disappeared.

While it will not bring back those who died during searches for him, or heal those who were wounded in the process, Bergdahl’s August 2016 trial will hopefully bring some closure for those affected by his actions. His former unit members claim they want nothing more than to see him simply stand trial. In the process, they would also like to see him found guilty, stripped of rank and awards, and given a dishonorable discharge from the military.
