Airstrikes from jet fighters and attack helicopters have continued to periodically rain on the Parliament building and surrounding Parliamentary complex.

At least one minister of parliament has been killed in one of the follow-on airstrikes, but Turkish officials have declined to release his name at this time.

Video of the first airstrikes came in from Turkish citizens watching a live report on the coup. Then suddenly the live backdrop of the Parliment building became engulfed in flames – also see featured image,

One of the attacking helicopters (of the two we know of,) landed at Turkish Armed Forces Headquarters after a strafing run on Parliment. The lights of the building went off for a moment and turned back on after the helicopter landed.

Rebel soldiers still control military helicopters, and fighter jets – despite statements by senior Turkish officials.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Yıldırım has given orders to,: “Eradicate those who are shooting from the sky,” and “Every warplane flying over Ankara will be immediately shot down.”
This was followed by a second warning by the government: aircraft used by the rebel soldiers will be shot down. Clearly, Rebel Air is still up and running in Turkey, despite contradictory reports. President Erdogan supported by his key staff, claim to have the situation is under control. Loyalist media and the intelligence service boasted claims as early as 03:30 EST, that the coup had been repelled, while explosions and clashes continued – and continue primarily in Ankara and Istanbul.

The Presidential Palace, located in Ankara was hit in a daring daylight airstrike by rebel air. Such an airstrike clearly demonstrates that things are again not as reported by the Turkish government or media.

Also in Ankara, a group of civilians attempted to prevent fighter jets from taking off at the Akinci Army Air Base. The soldiers at the base opened fire on them, killing five. If all military aircraft is as reported bu the Turkish government and media –  in government control. How and why are Turkish civilians being killed while attempting to intervene and being killed while trying to prevent airplanes from taking off and then dying in the process? After all, President Erdogan has called on the citizens of Turkey to go into the streets and fight against the Rebel Army which has led to an approximate 100 dead and 1,200 wounded civilian casualties.

The man in the photo may look heroic, but his tactic didn’t last very long and proved as foolish as it appears.

An overnight helicopter airstrike on the Golbasi Special Operations Headquarters and Police Training Center in Ankara’s Gölbaşı district .  Seventeen police officers were killed in the helicopter attack on Special Forces’ HQ.

The commanders of Turkish Special Forces do not support those in the coup. Albeit, a Special Forces squad has been taken into custody by the police. The factionalization of the Turkish government, military, and police is dynamic and total. Political leaders and commanders are not unilaterally in command of their forces.  The total clarity of the situation in Turkey will only be available to a few within Turkey, while most of Turkey’s citizens and the rest of the world will have to dig and hunt for what little truth is released from Ankara.
