Summer Outdoor Retailer 2015: HALA SUP Heaven

Note: Thousands of companies and wall to wall outdoor gear all packed into four days is epitomizes the organized chaos that is Outdoor Retailer. Myself, Leo Jenkins, and our Media Director Nick Cahill had a chance sit down with some awesome brands and check out what’s new in the outdoor and adventure industry. Part one of many more to come.

Standup Paddle Boarding (SUP) has really taken off in the last couple of years. Originally only solid boards were available, but the introduction of inflatable SUPs has made it easy for the consumer to take SUPing in a new and far-reaching directions. With multitudes of companies pushing new board designs, one company that caught our attention is HALA SUP. Their line of SUPs range for the flat water to the almost masochistic whitewater riders.

Although SUP prices are out or reach for some consumers, outdoor towns such as Bend, OR and locations along the Front Range of Colorado make renting and trying SUPing for the first time a breeze. The water going applications for inflatable SUPs are almost endless. Fishing, hunting trips, waterway explorations, and catching some sun with friends are just a few of the activities SUPing can make better.

We had a chance to sit down with HALA’s founder Peter Hall and get a run-though of some of their new whitewater surfing beasts, design, and accessories.
