Breaking: Navy SEAL Dusty Turner is Granted Parole After More Than 30 Years Behind Bars

This is a good day for America because it proves that even after thirty years of mistakes, the truth can still kick the door in and drag an innocent man back into the light of day.

In a 3/2 decision announced just minutes ago, former Navy SEAL Dusty Turner has been granted parole after more than 30 years behind bars for a murder he did not commit.

It is not immediately clear when he’ll actually get to exit the facility that has kept him incarcerated for so many years.

The majority decided that Turner was wronged by such a lengthy incarceration and had proven to be a model prisoner. There were two dissenting opinions.

For a synopsis of this somewhat complicated tale, please read my article from earlier today.  In it, I review the facts of the case and how Turner’s BUD/S swim buddy and good friend from SEAL Team 4, Billy Brown, was solely responsible for the 1995 murder of a young woman Turner met at a Virginia Beach bar that evening.

Initially, Brown turned on his teammate and good friend and stated that Turner participated in the killing. After both were convicted, Brown found religion behind bars, and the truth came out. He explained how Turner played absolutely no role in the young woman’s death.

Knowing that fact, Dusty continued to be held by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Today, justice has been done. The truth has prevailed. Dusty Turner will be a free man once again.

Turner will be walking out of prison soon with something Virginia should have given him decades ago: his freedom.

This is a good day for America.
