One of the two ‘Black Boxes’ from EgyptAir 804 was discovered today in nearly 10,000 feet of water. The Cockpit Voice Recorder should provide a tremendous amount of information about the downed aircraft’s final moments, even though there were no transmissions made over the radio.

If the plane was lost to an onboard emergency, such a fire, the Voice Recorder will contain the communication between the pilots as they attempted to deal with the problem.  Just as important, though not as definitive, would be the complete lack of cockpit pilot dialogue.  This might indicate a more abrupt end to the Airbus A320, perhaps due to sudden destruction from an explosion.
