An airman assigned to the 31st Intelligence Squadron at Fort Gordon, Georgia, was found dead at work on Wednesday.

Tech. Sgt. Michael Clardy, a 34-year-old mission manager, died on duty at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at his work center, Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina said in a release Friday.

“This is truly a tragic time for each member of our squadron, having to say goodbye to a beloved colleague,” Lt. Col. Andy Freeman, commander of the 31st, said in the release. “This certainly weighs heavily on all of us, and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and fellow airmen during this terrible time.”
