Benghazi: The Definitive Report

Benghazi: The Definitive Report
This Tuesday, White House Counter-Terrorism adviser John Brennan will sit down for the closed door classified portion of his confirmation hearing.  Brennan brings a lot of baggage to the table and has taken some fire from both the Left and the Right for his support of para-military activities and so-called Enhanced Interrogation Techniques.  This last week we’ve seen puff piece after puff piece as our 4th Estate absolutely gushes over John Brennan to pump him up for the confirmation hearings that will determine whether or not he will be the next Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, filling the void left by General Petraeus’ resignation.

Perhaps it is then a happy coincidence that the ebook I wrote with Brandon Webb about Benghazi is coming out on the same day as Brennan’s classified hearing.  The ebook will begin to peel back a few of the layers of secrecy that have thus far protected John Brennan and some very shady activities undertaken by the National Security Council.

The book includes many never before revealed details about the Libyan Civil War and the post-war reconsolidation efforts undertaken by Private Military Companies, the CIA, and Ambassador Chris Stevens.  This sets the stage for the situation that led to the attack on the US Consulate (technically a Temporary Mission Facility) in Benghazi.  We then tell it like it actually happened that night and detail the heroic actions of Ty Woods and his fellow OGA operators.  We will also shatter some myths and misconceptions about denied air support and the resignation of General Petraeus.

Perhaps most damning is the question of why.  Why did the attack happen?  What got AQIM elements operating under the Ansar Al-Sharia banner so angry that they decided to over run the Consulate?  Perhaps events in Egypt and a silly Youtube video helped some of the Sheiks mobilize a large group of extremists but there is more to this situation.  Much more.  Ambassador Stevens and David Petraeus never could have seen what was coming.  They were left in the lurch due to covert operations initiated by the White House, a secret war in North Africa being orchestrated by John Brennan.

benghazi

Written by the team of former Special Operations warriors who run SOFREP.com, here is the definitive account of what happened before, during, and after the deadly Benghazi attack.

On September 12th, 2012, Brandon Webb learned Glen Doherty, one of his closest friends and his former Navy SEAL teammate, was killed alongside Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and two other Americans when the U.S. State Department and CIA headquarters in Benghazi, Libya, were sieged in a shocking terrorist attack. For the next four months, Webb and his team at SOFREP.com, the world’s premier Special Ops website, embarked on a relentless investigation to understand exactly what happened to their countrymen, as well as the roles played by the Obama administration, State Department, and CIA. Drawing on unmatched sources, they spoke to individuals who would talk to no one else, including fellow Special Operations team members familiar with the African theatre, and well-placed contacts in the Washington intelligence community. This is their report–an unforgettably gripping minute-by-minute narrative of the events and their aftermath as they really unfolded on that terrible day in Libya.

After completing Benghazi: The Definitive Report... I realized my resentful political rants about the Administration, more or less murdering Ambassador Stevens, S. Smith, T. Woods, & G. Doherty were not only media stained... They were flat out incorrect. This operation rippled all the way to the top and stemmed far beyond Obama. The Editors at sofrep.com, B. Webb & J. Murphy, give the reader a timeline that begins years before the Benghazi massacre. Leaving the audience to ponder... Is the Benghazi massacre the tip of iceberg and what devastations will unfold in Our Nations future? The nobility and courage Our SEALs embody is what Our Nation is forged on. Brandon and Jack did a phenomenal job without exposing sacred military detail. While leaving the audience to ponder... “The lesson to Americans is clear in this case: take what you hear with a grain of salt and always question the narratives, and the backgrounds of the authors whose stories are being sold to you. Even if it is coming from your favorite source of trusted news. None of these outlets constitutes a paragon of truthfulness.” Excerpt From: Brandon Webb & Jack Murphy. “Benghazi.” HarperCollins, 2013-02-01. iBooks. This material may be protected by copyright.  @Recon6  @Txazz Everyone deserves a holiday.

Today is legally Washington's Birthday.

Why do we celebrate Presidents' Day? President's Day is a federal holiday in the United States, celebrated on the third Monday in February. Originally called Washington's Birthday, it was a day set aside in 1885 by President Chester Arthur as a day to honor the "father of our country." In the 1960s, reformers sought to include the name change to President's Day in order to include honoring President Abraham Lincoln. The resolution was defeated and, contrary to popular belief, the name of the federal holiday has never been officially changed although popular usage has made President's Day appear on advertising, calendars and in the media. Even the White House refers to the holiday as President's Day.

http://www.life123.com/holidays/more-holidays/february-holidays/why-do-we-celebrate-presidents-day.shtml

February 22 is President George Washington’s actual birthday. Our first president was elected to that post by a unanimous vote in 1789. His birthday was made a national holiday in 1885.

@LouCollins  @Recon6  @oldSquid  @live2ride  My half-sister and her brother lived in El Paso.  He was an Army Doctor stationed at Ft. Bliss.  He was a really good man.  I was 15, on my own and he made a 'deal' with me.  If I would go there, he would get me in High School and if I graduated, would help me go to college.  In return, I would babysit their son and take over household chores.  Unfortunately, their marriage was on the rocks and it didn't take very long for me to realize that the long-term plan just wouldn't work.  I was only there for a few weeks.  Mostly I remember a lot of brown, the warning not to go barefoot because of the scorpions in the back yard, and the long Greyhound bus ride LOL

@StormR  @Recon6  @oldSquid  @live2ride  Agree about trading community for mobility. Hindsight's 20-20 always. It's had disastrous consequences in too many instances.

Oh you dear one! I'm sorry you spent time in Hell Paso, I grew up there! Nasty nasty town. However, you probably know my house if you ever traveled down Timberwolf and hooked a left on St. John's to get to Montana. :)  I'm very familiar with Ft. Bliss--back in the day civilians could visit the base freely!

Anyway, lived in WA for a few years, it's absolutely gorgeous...there were just some things I wasn't wild about.

StormR
StormR 5pts like.author.displayName 1 Like

@LouCollins  @Recon6  @oldSquid  @live2ride Lou, I agree completely about extended family.   I think we've also traded community and neighborliness for mobility.  People use to lend a hand to each other because they knew each other.  It's amazing what a small act of kindness can do to get someone over a hump.  As for WA, I certainly can't speak for the whole state, but I love my little piece of it.  Except for a short stint in El Paso, I have lived in the same area my entire life and it is my ancestral home as well.  It suits my nature - tall frees, many bodies of water and mild climate :)

LouCollins
LouCollins 5pts like.author.displayName 1 Like

@StormR  @Recon6  @oldSquid  @live2ride I understand. Was an RN in my last lifetime, still have license, though I worked in home health--there was a component of mental health...since I also worked in WA for a time, I hear you ;). Maybe in the "old days" the extended family helped newly engaged couples through something akin to counseling? I don't know for sure, seems somewhat likely.

WA is derelict in a number of issues, from my POV. No offense meant. But it's much the same everywhere I've been regarding counseling, mental health, and so on.

Insurance is lax and perhaps considers mental health as not fixable--therefore they stay out of it as much as possible, perhaps States feel the same way? My guess anyway.

Nope, love isn't enough 99.9% of the time.

@LouCollins  @Recon6  @oldSquid  @live2ride Lou, I can only speak to Washington State.  Martial counseling falls under 'mental health' provisions, and if an health insurance plan addresses it all, it's usually related to costs for medication, and even that is rare.  Larger firms might have an EAP (Employee Assistance Program) that will offer 3 - 5 free counseling sessions on any issue and then refer on to private providers.  Mental health funding has been slashed to the bone here, so options for counseling for any issue which used to be based on a sliding economic scale is almost impossible to find.  So, couples are looking at options that range around $125 to $150 per session for martial counseling.  I strongly advocate for professional marriage counseling, often coupled with some 'life' issues such as a course on how to mange finances, parenting, etc., and there may a alcohol or substance issue in the background.  Those options may very well be out of range of couples that do not have a stable financial condition.  And of course, you are correct about sticking through tough times and actively working to repair and reconnect in the relationship.  But it takes commitment and work, not just simply time to fix it.  I suppose that's why I think looking at the front end is more important than the back end.  I don't think couples today view marriage in the context of long-term.  Love is not enough :)

LouCollins
LouCollins 5pts

 @oldSquid  @Recon6  @shagstar  @live2ride  @oldSquid  @LouCollins Sounds like heaven...

LouCollins
LouCollins 5pts

@StormR  @Recon6  @oldSquid  @live2ride I see, and what you say makes sense. My POV which was short, mostly comes from couples who give up on marriage when times get rough, as it happens in most marriages...it's a booger but the hurdles can be jumped. Unfortunately too many bail before they can reconnect. So that is where I was coming from. Your points are excellent and valid. I'd really rather have a "7 year rule" where couples could break up, no harm no foul and go their separate ways if they feel things can't be worked out. Is there any counseling out there that insurance will pay for anymore? I know in past years, it's been minimal at best.

@LouCollins  @Recon6  @oldSquid  @live2ride Lou, "But I don't think the waiting period for divorces is a bad thing--it might help people stay together".  I have some concerns about this bill for both philosophical and practical reasons.  The first is government regulating personal lives with a one-size-fits-all bill.  Victims of Domestic Violence are excluded, but there are some hoops to jump through.  There is no financial piece to this bill, so if couples do want to use this time period for martial counseling there's no assistance to help them do that, and most insurance companies and Employee Assistance Plans don't cover long term counseling.  As a Chaplain, if government is going to regulate marriages, I would have preferred to see it on the front end and not the back end - meaning, a requirement for martial counseling before a couple takes the plunge. There is only a 3-day waiting period to get a marriage license in my state.  I refused to perform weddings unless I had at least 3 counseling sessions with that couple, and occasionally advised them to wait or re-think it, and refused to do the wedding.  And lastly, it will force women and men to go through a legal separation process in order to protect their assets from their spouse and to develop a visitation/support plan for the children.  This will add both financial and emotional burdens to a couple already stretched thin.

@LouCollins  @Recon6  @oldSquid  @live2ride I think it's true of any State that you have to know who the players are when it comes to legislation and where that legislation stands in relation to committees.  It's a long cumbersome process to get legislation passed, and I'm grateful for that because it cuts down on some of the silliness.  The 'big' bill under consideration and pushed hard by the Republican House is changing the waiting period for divorces from 3 months to 12 months.  We have all these serious economic and security issues happening here, and they are spending most of their time and energy on a divorce waiting period.  Just another example of avoiding the hard stuff..

@StormR  @Recon6  @oldSquid  @live2ride Thank you so much Stormy for addressing this. Really appreciate your efforts. YEP Seattle's crazy central I think ;) .  Glad to hear your Senator didn't support or sign it. It'll probably be DOA.

@Recon6  @oldSquid  @LouCollins  @live2ride  About SB 5737, I just sent 6 a link to it so he could read the bill.  The thing to know about it is that only 3 Senators signed on to it and they are all Seattle area (our Liberal central). They could not get any other Senator to sign on. The bill is going nowhere.  The date for bills to get out of committee is almost here and I expect it will just disappear.  Also, we have a Republican majority House and they would never pass a version of it. There are three pieces of legislation that do stand a good chance of passing and I sent 6 information about them as well.  One deals with universal background checks, one deals with mental health and the third deals with keeping guns secure in the home.  So, it makes a good sensational story, but there's not much validity to it.  There are always a lot of goofy bills introduced, but fortunately few of them ever even make it to vote.  I'll keep on eye on this one and have already sent my opinion to my Senator and her Legislative Aide said she did not sign off on it, nor did she support it...and she's a Democrat and a Progressive, so that tells me a lot about the bill's chances.

@Recon6  @oldSquid  @LouCollins  @live2ride Recon, I hope someone can stop it. Article said 2 D's who pushed for the bill now regret the part about police "visiting" the owners. Yeah I bet they do! Lived in WA for a few years, came home where the normal people live ;).

@oldSquid  @live2ride :( Sorry about the heartbreak. Anyway, it's a great place to live IMO. Enjoying it. My youngest lives in Seattle, is here for a visit. He's anxious and ready to move out--his company wants to send him to Phoenix, he's hoping they'll branch out here--so we'll see. Going to make sure he reads this article before he leaves tomorrow.  Agree, bad stuff coming. Not liking that one bit--but what can you do. Roll with the punches (and punch back a lot) ;)

@oldSquid  @live2ride  Amen! And there's a lot of enviably pretty women here too.;) I'm sure you noticed that too.

live3ride On the Blaze is an article for a proposed gun law for WA state. Calls for police to inspect homes of "assault rifle" owners.
