The silliness behind this movement is something to behold.
I grew up in the southwest. The confederate flag isn’t an issue for me. Until last week, the only time I had even thought about it was remembering the General Lee on the Dukes of Hazzard when I was a kid, which was pretty much the most awesome car and show of the time. Plus, Daisy Duke.
Personally, I think the only flag to fly on United States government property should be the American flag, and yes, U.S. State Department, that includes your gay pride flag. How about we just make that a rule, so there’s no bitching from anyone? So yes, I think it is perfectly fine to get rid of the confederate flag from the statehouse grounds.
What is absurd is everything else that is following. The left-wing media is engaging in a frenzy, throwing out phrases like, “The Confederate Flag controversy continues to spread…” or, “Debate now shifting to confederate monuments.” The funny thing? IT’S ALL OF THEM SAYING IT.
THEY are the ones roiling the debate. Aided by a few left-wing freaks on twitter, the leftist media, now in an orgy of self-righteousness, is calling for anything remotely connected to the confederacy to be expelled. I’m not sure if they actually believe their own nonsense, or, like dogs, they rush out one of their finger-wagging columns and then sit up to be petted by their twitter followers. “Look, everyone. Would this happen with any other mass shooting? Of course not. This is like calling for all mosques to be banned because of 9/11. Hell, there would have probably been tons more Islamic terrorist attacks if the FBI wasn’t crawling up the ass of every incompetent jihadist from Los Ageles to NYC.
It’s like calling for gangster rap to be banned, since obviously, the literally, not figuratively, THOUSANDS of dead bodies from the inner city drug wars have been partially inspired and glorified by stupid rappers. See how dumb that sounds? And yet, because a guy held a flag in a picture, we must bulldoze war memorials. He was also wearing a Gold’s Gym shirt. BAN GOLD’S GYM!!
We can even see how absurd it is by recalling the case of Omar Thorton. Who, you ask, is Omar Thorton? I don’t blame you for not knowing. He doesn’t even have his own wikipedia page. Omar Thorton was the African-American who killed 8 white people in a shooting spree fueled by racism. Unlike Dylan Roof, he then did everyone a favor and killed himself before the cops could.
There was no outcry. There were no long discussions on hatred by the news media. President Obama did not mention Thorton’s victims at a press conference, much less go to any of their funerals. Indeed, the incident was basically banished from the news cycle almost as quickly as it arrived. There is a reason for this: Liberals who control the media LOVE the malevolent white villain story more than anything else.
Yeah, they think ISIS is sort of bad. Sure, the Mexican Drug Cartels have their angry side. Obviously, the thousands of corpses from inner-city gang members are regretful. Of course, illegal aliens that have been released by ICE have racked up 121 murders in the last couple of years. But NOTHING gets them going like the angry white guy. You won’t see the columnists at the Washington Post running 24/7 live coverage from the border, or calling for a change to our outlandish illegal immigrant detention policies.
It can’t possibly be ONLY one deranged, racist murderer bent on killing people. No, he’s merely a symptom of the massive, ongoing structural racism that has stained America since GW and the boys started kicking the shit out of the Brits. And we are so fragile, that we cannot possibly go through life knowing that a statue exists down by the local park.
We are now a nation of unhinged children, demanding a perfect world free from strife, buried in our electronics, surrounded by like-minded people where everyone agrees and where nobody may have hurt feelings. We are a fundamentally unserious people who lash out in a blind rage in righteous zeal in a Need To Do Something, lurching like retarded drunks from one outrage to the next. We shout and scream at dissent; we think nothing of Taliban-like behavior like bulldozing American history. We have no use for logic, reason, or critical thinking.
Now it’s the war monuments that are very serious problems. So let’s talk about those, using the national mall in Washington D.C., as seen through the eyes of the modern leftist.
Obviously, the George Washington monument would have to go. Yeah, so he led an underdog army of freemen to a tremendous victory over the Brithish empire, thereby creating a new country. He had slaves, and therefore, on a scale of one to ten micro-aggressions, is a twelve. And his monument is white and penis-y. Gotta go.
The Thomas Jefferson Memorial? Everyone knows the story of Jefferson. So what if he wrote one of the most famous documents in history? He also had occasional sexual dalliances with his slaves, almost assuredly violating their Safe Spaces. Tear it down.
The Lincoln memorial has to go as well. Even though he launched a war to free them, Abraham Lincoln cared not for slaves, and was casually racist in his thoughts and speech TRIGGER WARNING TRIGGER WARNING:

The Vietnam memorial? FUCK YOU. A war of imperialist aggression, let by blood-thirsty would-be colonialists, bent on interfering with the affairs of peace-loving marxists. ASIAN peace-loving marxists. Destroy it with dynamite, and salt the earth where it stood.

The World War 2 Memorial: Toss up. On one hand, this one is at least about killing other white people, which is ok. BUT: they were peaceful national socialists, which everyone knows is better than the running-dog capitalists that control the United States while bathing in the blood of the proletariat. Also, we nuked Japan because we had to show them what big, throbbing cisgender men we were. Burn it to the ground.
Damn, all that’s left is the Martin Luther King memorial. Well, at least we’re safe there. OR ARE WE? Well, King DID plagiarize his college thesis, so he’s kind of a cheater. Plus, he was a serial misogynist, cheating repeatedly on his wife, and didn’t even get affirmative expressed consent, now mandated by law, so he’s pretty much a RAPIST. Bulldoze it, just to be on the safe side.

Many, huh? Ok, now here’s the amusing part:
An online questionnaire by Stars and Stripes found that about 88 percent of more than 18,000 respondents opposed changing the names. Many of them considered changing the names a needless bow to political correctness or an insult to those they consider national heroes.
EIGHTY EIGHT percent? You can’t get that many people to agree that the sky is blue. That’s overwhelming. In polling, that’s practically unanimous. Now, Stars and Stripes is a military newspaper, but, it’s still a newspaper, and therefore run by liberals. So how did this newspaper headline this story, with it’s OWN POLL showing universal opposition to changing the names?
“Opinions mixed on changing names of US bases that honor Confederates”

I do want to actually commend the Army, who, shockingly enough, had a sensible answer to the media’s feeding frenzy on expunging anything southern-related on military posts:
“Every Army installation is named for a soldier who holds a place in our military history. Accordingly, these historic names represent individuals, not causes or ideologies,” said U.S. Army Chief of Public Affairs, Brig. General Malcom B. Frost in an exclusive statement to msnbc.com. “It should be noted that the naming occurred in the spirit of reconciliation, not division.”

The vote was narrow – 5-4 – but Justice Anthony Kennedy’s majority opinion was clear and firm: “The court now holds that same-sex couples may exercise the fundamental right to marry. No longer may this liberty be denied to them.”
I’ve never really given much thought to this. In my perfect world, the government wouldn’t even be involved in marriage in the first place. However, it seems harmless if you want to marry a guy, I guess. I won’t pretend to understand it, but I’m just an old-fashioned meat-eating, freedom-fighting hetero with abs of steel and great hair who likes blonde women. But hey, this is America. I don’t tell you what to do, you don’t tell me what to do. (I suspect some may have second thoughts once gay divorce, gay alimony, and gay child support start appearing,)
What I DO foresee coming are the lawsuits to religious organizations. In a sane, polite society, this would be a live-and-let-live situation. You go pray in your church that you built, and I’ll go get gay married by the justice of the peace, or a gay church, or whatever. Everyone happy, right?
But that is never good enough for activists. There will be a certain segment that has to make a point. So, there will be demands for religious institutions with sincere objections to gay marriage (catholic churches, synagogues, MOSQUES) to accommodate their ceremony, and now, you’re talking about not just tolerance, but active participation. This is my opinion only, but that, I do have a problem with. It’s already happened up in Canada, and I GUARANTEE that it will happen in the U.S., probably very soon. This showdown between religious freedom vs. the government has been a long time coming, and this is probably what is going to decide it once and for all.
Obamacare continues to be the law of the land in a 6-3 decision on subsidies that was pretty easy to predict. John Roberts already made it clear that there was no way he was going to upend President Obama’s signature achievement, and that was indeed the case. I continue to believe that with ballooning costs and incompetent management, it will probably either implode or continue to be modified. Or, just turned into a full-blown government health care system. And, as an occasional patient of the Veteran’s Administration, all I have to say is: good luck.
The third biggie was the Fair Housing Act decision. Out of the three, in my opinion, this is the most convoluted. I’ll let the news explain:
The case involved Inclusive Communities Project Inc, a nonprofit group that claimed Texas violated the law by disproportionately awarding low-income housing tax credits to developers owning properties in poor, minority-dominated neighborhoods. The group works to place low-income tenants in the more wealthy, majority white suburbs of Dallas.
The court was considering whether the 1968 law allows for “disparate impact” claims in which plaintiffs need to show only the discriminatory effect of a particular practice and not evidence of discriminatory intent. There was no dispute over the law’s prohibition on openly discriminatory acts in the sale and rental of housing.
Terrible precedent. So even if you’re not discriminating against someone, if the “correct” outcome is not to the government’s liking, you’re discriminating. Talk about a boon to the civil rights lawyers. We’ll keep an eye on it to see how it plays out. I’m POSITIVE that the good liberals who dominate wealthy neighborhoods like Martha’s Vineyard, Holmby Hills, Malibu, Chevy Chase, etc. wouldn’t want to stand in the way of a giant section 8 housing high rise next door, after all.

The heavily scrutinized assessment of women attending Army Ranger School could be nearing its end soon, and it comes with a dichotomy: senior service officials are laudatory of their efforts, while some of the women who washed out question whether they got a fair shake…
Ranger students are graded by both peers and Ranger instructors (RIs). The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to concerns about damaging their careers, said many of the women who made it to the Darby Phase were graded well by their fellow male Ranger students — a process known as peer reviews — but informed at the end that they had failed at least two patrols and wouldn’t be able to continue.
Wait, why would they have concerns about damaging their careers? Surely, the Army prizes the valuable input from the men on the front lines of instruction, don’t they? That was said in my heavily sarcastic intonation, if it didn’t come through.
Male students who had women in their patrols also failed at an unusually high rate, the sources said. The average Ranger Course typically sees a few dozen soldiers wash out during the Darby Phase, but eight women and 101 men were “recycled” and held back in the class that begin Ranger School on April 20.
Hmmm. Does this mean that the female students were so terrible, they acted as a leaden weight around the ankles of the male candidates? I suppose it could be a coincidence, but that’s a pretty damning stat.
The assessment at Ranger School was cast as a one-time project, but there are signs already that it will continue. In a meeting with reporters in May, Chief of Staff Gen. Raymond T. Odierno said the Army could run “a couple more cycles” with women.
“We’ll probably run a couple more pilots,” Odierno said, according to Army Times. “It’s been a real success for us, and we’ll see how it goes from there.”
Oh, it’s going to continue. There was never any doubt about that. The social engineering goons cannot, MUST NOT, be proved that they are wrong. This will go on, and on, and on, until at least one female graduates. Again, in theory, I have no problem with it, but I just know how things work in the real world. A female must pass, and if that means giving her opportunities or breaks that a male wouldn’t get, it WILL happen.
Nice quote from Odierno there, as well. So: countless man hours and money spent trying to even muster up 19 women into shape enough to pass the initial PT test. Followed by a ranger school that had billeted 31 additional female “advisors” to monitor the situation. Result: O-Fer. Goose egg. Naught. Nil. Zip. Nada. Jack AND shit.
In most other lines of work, getting a 0.000 would be a dismal failure. But not your U.S. Army! It’s, “a real success.”

La Mesa Police have released surveillance video of the moment a suspect brutally beat a Navy veteran and clown at a trolley station.
On June 13, around 8 p.m., Frank Cerasoli, who performs as a clown for children, was in downtown La Mesa wrapping up a shopping trip for balloons and clown makeup at the Gypsy Treasure costume store.
As he left the store to make his way back home, an unknown man violently attacked him from behind at the La Mesa Trolley Station at 8248 La Mesa Blvd., police confirmed.
Cerasoli was left bruised and bloodied – and confused about what happened and why he was attacked.
He probably had it coming, I’m sure. Clown.

A Unified Iraqi Army is a Pipe Dream:
The stark consistency of contemporary history tells us several things as we ponder why the Iraqi military is proving to be so inept in its war against Islamic State. First is the immutable tenet that wars are human endeavors and that culture counts. Arab culture is based on family, tribe and clan. Thus it should come as no surprise that Arabs fight best in formations that are organically grown and organized around familiar groups that share more than the same national flag.
Such units fight best on the defensive. Knowing the soldier next to you stiffens your resolve to stand and fight, but helps much less amid the confusion of an offensive advance. The fact that the small Iraqi army garrison at Ramadi, manned by the best of the Iraqi regulars and regionally recruited militias, held on for more than a year against Islamic State is testimony to the strength of a defense based on close tribal ties.
Exactly. I’ve been saying this for years, as have many, MANY commanders that spent years training the Iraqi army. They don’t work together the way our military does. Once, when I was in Bagdad, an Iraqi police unit and an Iraqi army unit actually got into a gunfight right outside of our camp. Can you imagine that in the U.S.?

DOUGLAS, Ariz. (AP) — An Iraqi pilot who has been training in the United States for four years crashed in southern Arizona while flying an F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft, a spokesman for the Iraqi defense minister said Thursday.
“We have no word yet on his fate or the reason behind the crash,” Brig. Gen. Tahseen Ibrahim told The Associated Press. “We are in contact with the Americans to get more details.”
Ibrahim confirmed the pilot is Brig. Gen. Rafid Mohammed Hassan but said the pilot’s fate still is not known. He said the rescue operation is difficult because the plane hit a gas pipeline in a rural area.
Hassan was the only person aboard when the plane went down during a Wednesday night training mission with the Arizona Air National Guard’s 162nd Wing, the Guard said in a statement. It did not release further information about the pilot.
The crash happened near a gas line, sparking a big fire that the locals are still dealing with. As of this time, there is no word on the fate of the pilot, but it doesn’t sound good. An author over at foxtrotalpha.com has some criticisms of the F-16 program:
The Iraqi F-16 blunder is yet another reminder of just how limited the Pentagon’s viewpoint can be when it comes to equipping, or even understanding the capabilities and needs of foreign militaries. Most logical people would look at Iraq a half decade or more ago and come to the conclusion that simpler, cheaper and/or familiar weapons, in large quantities, would probably be best for their struggling military to field and utilize. Instead the Pentagon just can’t help but try to remake foreign militaries in their own image, no matter how absurd that idea may seem to outside observers. Hence the fact the betting of the vast majority of Iraq’s air combat capability on three dozen high-end F-16s that still have not touched down in their home country.
Meanwhile, an off-the-shelf turboprop light attack aircraft costing a fraction of the price to buy or operate than that of an F-16 can put the same laser guided bomb on the same target, loiter much longer, operate in austere conditions, and provide a critical surveillance role that the F-16 never could.
Good points. Another question that always comes up is the long-term viability of these weapons programs. Just because you hand someone a bunch of tanks and planes doesn’t mean they have the knowledge to keep everything running. These things require ongoing maintenance, a role that the U.S. has been providing contractors in order to try and keep everything oiled up. How long are we prepared to do that?
Ohio Man Wears Black Socks; Nothing Else:
DAYTON — A nearly naked man, wearing only black socks when police arrested him early Monday on White Oak Drive, is to be in court Tuesday on a misdemeanor charge of public indecency.
“I didn’t mean to be naked,” the 65-year-old said when Dayton police officers asked him what he was doing. They had responded to complaint calls about a man who appeared confused and nude in the Dumpster area of an apartment building, according to a Dayton police incident report made public Monday. He also apologized several times, according to the police report.
What goes wrong in your life when, at the age of 65, you’re wandering around the apartment complex nude with black socks on?
