BBC conducted an interview with two Syrian children that illustrates the damage ISIS inflicts on the minds of children. The two children state they were forced to witness multiple beheadings at the hands of ISIS. This is a common technique to desensitize and indoctrinate children into extremist groups. ISIS also controls their Islamic teachings and regular education, which adds legitimacy to their cause and warps reality for the young children. Unfortunately, in order to create child soldiers they must be forced into a life of violence at a very young age. Without stopping ISIS, the next generation of children will continue to carry the black flag and proliferate their violence and terror.
