A helicopter crew discovered the debris about 15 miles east of Eleuthera, which is east of New Providence in the Atlantic Ocean, the Coast Guard said.

A swimmer from the helicopter pulled up several items from the wreckage, including a seat. None of the plane’s occupants were found.

“We’re continuing to search for survivors in that area,” Petty Officer Eric Woodall said to the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “We’ll adjust our pattern and the search will continue. This is certainly a big discovery and shows where the plane is or last was.” – UPI

The plane had taken off Monday from Puerto Rico before it went missing. A Coast Guard C-130 Hercules and a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter had been searching for the MU-2B.
