Material that real beginning pilots receive, like emergency procedures (boldface), flying patterns, weather analysis and even flight simulation, are all topics covered in the comprehensive class. In fact, the cadets memorized the same boldface Laughlin’s T-6 student pilots are required to learn.

Elizabeth Stegman, a parent of a cadet that attended the class, said the program was nothing short of amazing. “The experience, expectations and accountability placed on the students is just astonishing,” said Stegman. “They have insight here that most people wouldn’t get until after they finished four years at the Air Force Academy. And here they are in high school getting the same kind of exposure.”

“I’ve always been interested in space and aviation,” said Cadet Leilani Schroeder. “This made me see what it’s like to be a pilot in training here. It’s a glimpse of what’s hopefully my future.” – Air Education and Training Command
