A man wearing a mask and carrying a gun was taken into custody near the White House Saturday afternoon after a struggle, the Secret Service said.
The incident occurred a few minutes after 1 p.m. at Pennsylvania Avenue and Madison Place NW, near the northeast side of the White House grounds. An officer from the Uniformed Division of the Secret service spotted the man who had a handgun in a holster. The officer confronted the him and a brief struggle ensued, according to the Secret Service.
The agency said the man was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, carrying unregistered ammunication, resisting arrest and committing a crime while wearing a mask.
