Jan. 11, 2012: On this date, Command Sergeant Major Rick Merritt, the 14th Regimental Sergeant Major of the 75th Ranger Regiment, relinquished responsibility to Command Sergeant Major Nick Bielich, the 15th Regimental Sergeant Major of the 75th Ranger Regiment, in a Change of Responsibility Ceremony held at Fort Benning, Ga. The ceremony was officiated by the Regimental Commander, Col. Mark W. Odom, and attended by Rangers past and present, family, and friends.
Command Sgt. Maj. Merritt served in the 75th Ranger Regiment for over 23 years, including 54 months deployed in combat in Panama, Somalia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. His next assignment will be as the Division Command Sgt. Maj. for 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York.
Command Sgt. Maj. Bielich has served in the 75th Ranger Regiment for over 20 years, most recently as the Command Sergeant Major for 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah, Ga.
