Developing story: ISIS attack kills Navy SEAL in northern Iraq

The Pentagon confirmed earlier today that an unidentified American service member was killed in Iraq while on a mission to advise and forward assist Kurdish Peshmerga forces. Only identified as an active-duty Navy SEAL, the man was operating 30 kilometers north of Mosul when Islamic State forces attacked a small Kurdish outpost near the front lines.

The death of this SEAL marks the third combat casualty in the fight against ISIS, which has already claimed the lives of a Delta Force operator and a U.S. Marine.
