Five people are reported dead after a shooting incident in Orlando, Florida.  The shooter is said to be among the dead, and the attack is not believed to be tied to terrorism.  Three men and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene, with the fifth dying after reaching the hospital.  Official reports suggest the incident may have been work-related.

The forty-five-year-old gunman reportedly returned to his former workplace intent on killing his former coworkers before turning the gun on himself.  Per the reports in local media, he would seem to have been dead, or in critical condition, by the time law enforcement arrived just after 8:00 am local time.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is calling the situation “contained and stable,” with no search for additional suspects or concerns over any other active shooters.  The shooting took place in a business and industrial area of the city more than seven miles Northwest of downtown. The business was reportedly Fiamma Inc., a company that makes and sells awnings for campers and recreational vehicles.

“It’s a sad day for us once again in Orange County,” Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said during a press conference. “Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims.”

He added that the shooting was likely “a workplace violence incident.”

After killing four, the shooter, whose identify is expected to be revealed later today, killed himself.

“He turned gun on himself,” Demings said. “He was a disgruntled employee who came back this morning.”

There were seven survivors left inside after the shooting stopped.

Shelly Adams told reporters on the scene that her sister had been inside during the incident.  She heard a commotion while she was in the restroom, and came out to find bodies on the floor.

“She said, ‘I saw too much. My boss is dead,'” Adams said.  Other witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots.

The FBI is on the scene to assist in the investigation into the reasoning behind this deadly attack.

This incident comes only about a week before the one year anniversary of the terrorist attack in the Pulse Night Club in Orlando.  That attack left 49 people dead and dozens more injured, making it the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history.  Today’s attack does not appear to have any relation to the Pulse attack, nor does the shooter seem to have any ties to known terror organizations.

“The situation here appears to be very different from the situation at Pulse,” Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs said.

Florida Governor Rick Scott released a statement on Twitter after the incident that read:

“Over the past year, the Orlando community has been challenged like never before.  I have been briefed by our law enforcement officials on this tragic incident and Ann and I are praying for the families who lost loved ones today.  I ask all Floridians to pray for the families impacted by this senseless act of violence.  I will remain in contact with the Orlando law enforcement community throughout the day as more information is made available.”

Forsyth Road has been shut down between University and State Road 50, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
