Man shot by Paris Police after he attacked an officer with a hammer

Paris, France- Police reportedly shot and injured a man as he tried to strike an officer with a hammer outside of the gothic cathedral Notre-Dame. Following the incident, Notre-Dame was locked down with approximately 900 visitors and worshipers inside. Police are working to gradually clear those still inside the cathedral. This incident is being investigated as a terrorist attack. AP reported the man yelled, “it’s for Syria” during the attack. Information about the attacker is not known at this time. More to follow

Update: Here is video taken directly after the terrorist attack outside of Notre-Dame. At the beginning of the video, the man who claims to have been an Islamic State fighter is seen lying on the ground and the officer still has his gun drawn.
