SOFREP on Newsmax TV Discussing Benghazi

I talk with Steve Malzberg of Newsmax about Benghazi. We discuss a threat assessment report that the Dept. of State conducts on facilities world-wide called the SETL (Security Environment Threat List), and why this important document has been overlooked.

The SETL has four categories of threat:

  1. Low
  2. Medium
  3. High
  4. Critical

This document is used to determine where to allocate funding and security resources, and out of 264 facilities that State operates globally, only 14 rank “High” or “Critical.” Guess where Benghazi and Tripoli ranked? 9 and 10 out of the 14 on the list. This puts these facilities in the top ten dangerous places in the world.

This report is critical to understanding how the State Department was drawing down security in Libya in the face of a rising threat level.  It has never been discussed in Congressional hearings or the internal ARB that State conducted. The Undersecretary of Management, Patrick Kennedy, has some tough questions to answer.

Enjoy the interview.
