The Pic of the Day: Virgin Orbit wants to launch satellites like missiles from the wing of a 747

Virgin Orbit

Virgin Orbit’s custom fitted 747 — dubbed “Cosmic Girl” — is now conducting test flights with the rocket “LauncherOne” strapped beneath its wing. LauncherOne will soon be used to launch small satellites into orbit after being fired from “Cosmic Girl’s” wing at 35,000 feet, eliminating the need for rocket launch pads or concerns about weather at the date of launch.
