Training Peshmerga is a challenge in that comes with new and unique obstacles to adapt to every day. Everything from language barriers to cultural differences to physical limitations come into play. Training alongside them is a whole other animal, but in some ways, it’s simplified. I find that when running drills side by side, they tend to make up for any lack of technique with violence of action. When things don’t go quite right, pure unadulterated aggression will surely do the trick. Remember, what can go wrong will go wrong, and everybody makes mistakes—that’s what training is for.
