Below is the graphic video of the assassination of the Russian Ambassador to Turkey, Andrei Karlov after he began his speech at an art gallery in Ankara, Turkey.

Mevlüt Mert Altıntaş, 22-year-old, has been identified as the man who shot and killed the ambassador. Mevlüt Mert Altıntaş was a Ankara city police officer and has been assigned to the riot police for over 2 years. He reportedly gained access to the building with his police identification.

Turkey’s interior minister identified the gunman as 22-year-old Mevlüt Mert Altıntaş, a member of the Ankara police department’s riot unit who graduated from İzmir Rüştü Ünsal Police Academy in 2014.- Business Insider

In the video below, he can be heard saying:

The attacker shouted “Allahu Akbar,’ Arabic for “God is great.” He also shouted other phrases, mostly in Turkish, according to Turkey’s Hurriyet Daily News: “Don’t forget Aleppo! Don’t forget Syria! As long as our brothers are not safe, you will not enjoy safety. … Whoever has a share in this oppression will pay for it one-by-one. … Only death will take me away from here…- USA Today

Mevlüt Mert Altıntaş was eventually killed by Turkish police. More information to follow as we learn more about the assailant. Three others were shot in the incident and taken to local hospitals. Their conditions are still unknown at this time. A delay in details should be expected as the state run media has been tightly controlled since the failed coup.
