In 2010, Jimmy Settle (a US Air Force Pararescueman or PJ) was on a dangerous rescue mission in Afghanistan when an AK-47 round hit the bottom of his helicopter, striking him in the head. Even after being shot in the head, his PJ medical training kicked in and he started providing self-aid. He has had several near death experiences, throughout his career. Jimmy said in the video, if he was a cat he would have already used up 7 of his 9 lives. The video below is from a journalist that was embedded with Jimmy’s unit in Afghanistan directly after being shot in the head. Jimmy recently published his first book titled, “Never Quit” which covers the dangerous mission in-depth.
