Women’s Self Defense Weekly with a former Army Ranger

This post is going to be a little different from the others in SOFREP’s Women’s Self Defense series.  Namely, this post will deal with some of the laws of last resort and some of the brutal realities associated with a woman who is confronted with sexual assault.  This isn’t going to be pretty, so fair […]

Mission Creep: UAV’s Over America

Due to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, the FAA finally had to release a list of who is flying drones over American airspace and where they are located.  Some of these drone flights are fairly benign, such as soldiers learning how to fly the Raven on military installations.  I don’t think most Americans have […]

Book Review: The Maritime Sniper Manual

When I served as a sniper in the US Army I was never given the Tom Berenger award or any such nonsense, but having conducted dozens of combat operations as a sniper and having graduated from the Army sniper school, I would not have thought that this book would be packed full of new content […]

NEWS: Duqu Strikes Iranian Oil Infrastructure?

I wrote just a few weeks ago about how the computer virus called Duqu was worming through foreign computer networks, running recon for the next Stuxnet style attack.  Now Reuters is reporting that a virus has infected the oil control facility on Kharg Island in Iran.  Is this the beginning of round two? -Jack DUBAI […]

Why Dr. Phil Deserves to be Punched in the Nuts

Hey folks, Dr. Phil is out with this piece about how vets with PTSD are “monsters” and “damaged goods.”  I’m pretty sure he’s just doing it for ratings and that in a few days he will disavow the entire incident and blame it all on an unpaid intern who went rogue on his producers (that’s […]

LT’s Dedication to Mission, Protective Equipment, Saves Lives

Camp Buehring, Kuwait- 2nd Lieutenant John R. Boyd didn’t expect to receive such a fulfilling mission straight out of the Officer’s Basic Course. Luckily for him, his unit was deployed two months after his graduation to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. When asked about his thoughts on his first deployment, the young Lieutenant focused […]

Guest Post: America, Our Military, and the Roman Empire

I received this e-mail from a friend and veteran who fought in Vietnam with the Marines and later served in Rhodesia during the Bush War.  His perspective and insight is interesting and thought provoking to the point that I felt it would be a waste to just let it sit in my inbox and that […]
