A Texas Army National Guard Apache helicopter crashed 25 miles southeast of Houston at approximately 3 pm CST. The aircraft and soldiers were assigned to to 1-149 Attack Reconnaissance Battalion based at Ellington Field. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time, and the names of the two soldiers have not been released yet.
The Houston Chronicle and KXAN stated that witnesses heard a loud noise and then saw the aircraft break apart before it crashed. Crews are still trying to recover the bodies from the submerged aircraft. In the images below, you can see divers near the submerged wreckage. More information to follow.
