Two police officers were stabbed in a suspected terrorist attack while in the Schaerbeek district of Brussels, Belgium. One police officer was stabbed in the neck and the other police officer was stabbed in the abdomen. A third officer broke his nose. The Independent states that the attacker fled after stabbing the officers and was stopped by a second group of officers. The man was then shot by police in the leg and left the scene in an ambulance. The attacker has been identified as Hicham D, a 43-year-old Belgian national. The Independent quoted the federal prosecutor’s spokesman, Eric Van Der Sypt, as saying “we have reason to believe that it is terror-related.” The police officers’ conditions have been described as non-life threatening. Earlier in the day. there was also a bomb threat at a train station in Brussels.
