Update 18:30 EST: The death count has risen to 19 and the man reportedly was a former employee of the facility. Japan Times is reporting that the man confessed to the murders and turned himself into the police station 3 am local time.
At 2:30 am local time, a 26-year-old unidentified man killed 15 and wounded 45 with a knife in Sagamihara, Japan. The knife attack occurred at the Tsukui Yamayuri Garden which is a home for the disabled. It appears he attacked the mentally and physically disabled as they slept. The death toll may rise as at least four people are reported to be in critical condition. The man was arrested after the police arrived on the scene. Motive for the attack is unclear at this time. It is also unknown if the man was a resident there. More information to follow.
