Paratrooper Loadout: Airborne School

Aside from combat, I am most often asked about my experiences as a paratrooper. To become Airborne qualified (jump wings) you must first attend, and pass Airborne school at Fort Benning, GA. I attended this course directly after Basic/AIT training. However, there were many people in my class that had been in the military for a number […]

Watch: Jump alongside the Navy SEAL Leap Frog Team as they soar into Neyland Stadium

Navy SEALs are often thought of as amphibious warfighters, rising from the depths of the sea to engage opponents, but America’s most well-known special operations war fighters need to be experts in far more than just swimming and shooting.  Even the name SEAL, while garnering aquatic imagery, is actually a shortened description of where our […]

Special Forces operator escaped with his life, thanks to a mid-air rescue

The second paratrooper, realising his colleague was in distress, managed to move rapidly towards him to help.

At the time of going to print it was not known exactly how the second paratrooper managed to help his mate, although he could clearly be seen moving above the top of the twisted parachute.

Positioning himself above it, the [second] paratrooper appeared to struggle with the parachute before it floated away.

The soldier in distress managed to deploy his reserve parachute seconds later.

Hurtling to the ground is the easy part for these paratroopers

Going out the aircraft door at a thousand feet over the farmland of central Poland, strapped to a parachute and 130 pounds of combat gear, turns out to be the easy part. A relief, in fact, after a 10-hour flight from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, strapped into fold-down seats along the edges of the C-17 […]
