Special Operations Detachment-Pacific soldiers conduct airborne operations in Shelton, Washington in support of Cascadia Rising 2016. The soldiers parachuted out of a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, simulating a resupply mission and demonstrating the unit’s capabilities.
The three-week course, which sees about 14,000 trainees a year, is mostly filled with recruits right out of basic training or AIT who want to be paratroopers, Army Rangers or other special operations forces across the Defense Department
The team is comprised of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and DoD Civilians from SOCOM.
HALO involves paratroopers jumping at around 25,000 feet and freefalling down to 3,500 feet.
